Never herd of that phase ( Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea) but of course I've never been to Ireland until now. That is quite interesting ,that the tide goes out and gives way for quick boat repair , guess your best to work fast.Thanks for a quick tour .Enjoy the rest of your vacation the Browne family! God Bless and safe travels . Cheers!

Probably too late, but if you head west of Galway there is a small village called Barna...they have a great little pub called Donnelly's...it's where I first discovered Bulmers Irish Cider, tasty beverage! Oh, and if you have another ferry ride in you, the Aran islands are a great stop for rugged beauty.

If you are going to do the Monty Python stuff you really need to visit Doune, where it was filmed. The bridge they threw things off was strung across the very top of Glen Coe by the local mountain rescue leader. He was the one throwing the bodies.

There's no doubt that a piece of steel would work as a worm shoe, but the typical application is an inch or two of wood separated from the remaining structure by tar paper, which the worms won't cross. Being a relatively small part, it is easily replaced when it becomes sufficiently chewed.

Love the content. Interesting question for us business outsiders. Looking on google (consider the source), why would it be 1/2 the price to fly Aer Lingus to Dublin versus BA or ahem 😃 into Heathrow? Do the carriers pay different fee schedules for airports? It can’t be fuel costs. It is it as simple as supply and demand? Popular routes command a higher price?

Did you stop by Ailwee Caves in Ballyvaughan...it's jut up the road from Kinvara. I worked as a tour guide in the cave about 15 years ago. I'm from Gort Ireland also just up the road. Have fun in Ireland

I like Kinvara. Doolin, Lisdoonvarna and Enystimon are also great places. Lots of good craic and music. Hope you're all having a great time there, despite the bad weather coming in.

The sacrificial anode is most likely zinc (for salt water). Too little and the other metals become sacrificial, too much and the wood becomes sacrificial. For fresh water they usually use aluminum sacrificial anodes.

I thought they were magnisium! (Easy for You to Spell! ) :-)
@DFDuck557 жыл бұрын
370Scotty: You're right, magnesium is the third type of metal used for sacrificial anodes. Usually on on-shore pipelines that carry things with a high resistance, like water and soil. Too much magnesium and the metal pipe can become brittle. Zinc, and sometimes aluminum, are used for things in salt water, like ships, small boats, off-shore pipeline, production platforms, and inside storage tanks.

Juan, I'm so disappointed. As an aviator, you had a golden opportunity to correct the awkward line from the movie regarding "airspeed velocity" by asking Pete "what is the average cruising airspeed of an unladen European Swallow?" The answer is 24 miles per hour (11 meters per second) as shown in this scholarly article. style.org/unladenswallow/
@KJ6EAD7 жыл бұрын
Graham Taylor corrects that to 20 miles per hour (8.8 meters per second). style.org/unladenswallow/update/
