The hubris of people who say, "Russia is just a gas station masquerading as a country." I remember hearing that although the US has 2.2 times the population of Russia, Russia has 30% more engineers amongst its students. I'm sure they don't have the discipline issues we do in their classrooms.

The problem is not the engineers. The problem is the money. Russia is broke. We spend WAYYYY more money on military than they ever have. Just think about it, if they can't beat Ukraine, and it's been over a year, they will not be able to handle us.

They do nothing to them, not even a dent, stop watching cnn or Fox News, we give everything to Ukraine: we train their troops, we give billions in arm support, we provide intelligence and satellite support, all of those offenses which they attempt to implement are brainstorm in Washington DC by our generals and military think tanks… guess what Russians still wining, our leadership lying to us, I do kind of understand that… can you imagine investing so much money and effort and in return you have no results, obviously, they will be lying to us, saying that everything is peachy, and Ukrainians are almost winning under our wise supervision. Well, late summer offensive was kind of successful, only because Ukrainians had way more troops and the Russians did, but then Russia mobilized 300000 more troops(by the way most of mobilized are still not on the front lines, some of them still training, but Ukrainians already went through at least five waves of mobilization). Our politicians think that Russians will budge because of the losses, but they will not, they will slowly advanced, just like their grandfathers did.

As it is, they are content to fight the Russians to the last Ukrainian. Evil.

The cost of a single hypersonic missile is at least a staggering $45M up to $100M USD. All against a single target only! Very expensive as to be almost ineffective in the larger war. Also a hypersonic missile's warhead size is small as most of its body is taken up by big motor and huge amounts of fuel propellent to sustain hypersonic flight.

@beyondfossil Жыл бұрын
@@TheChzoronzon Yes, given the extreme cost of hypersonic missiles, nothing less than a capital ship would really justify its cost in most cases. The OP was discussing hypersonic missiles to take out Leopard tanks. Putin has been using Ukraine soft targets to show the west that he does have working hypersonic missiles when a series of conventional missiles would have easily accomplished this. Hitting a target is much a numbers game -- could launch 10X to 20X the number of conventional missiles from different directions at the same time at a target at the same cost. This gives a chance of scoring *multiple* hits. At $50M to $100M a pop, a single hypersonic missile cost is in the range of an F-35 fighter jet being lost *per target*. Also, you can bet the US military is constantly working on several different specific countermeasures. The Kinzhal is massive at 10,000lbs which is about the weight of the average elephant. But it should have a much larger warhead for its size which is only 11% of its weight. Since air drag resistance increases with the cube of velocity, a large percentage of the hypersonic missile's volume is allocated to rocket propellant. I have not read specifically if these hypersonic missiles actually use their kinetic energy to inflict damage. I'm guessing not. Because missiles use a proximity fuze to ensure full detonation of the warhead, improve chances of a hit, and an air burst explosion typically causes more damage. Also, much of the Kinzhal's mass will be lost in spent fuel when it arrives on target.

Unfortunately, the power of laser weapons is exaggerated. This type of weapon requires a huge amount of energy. Fog, smoke, precipitation significantly reduces efficiency. Even the most powerful laser requires contact with the target for several seconds. During this time, the hypersonic missile will hide far beyond the horizon. Even if this factor is not taken into account, the plasma cloud from a hypersonic missile will interfere with laser focusing. Russia has a Peresvet laser complex, but it can only fight small UAVs.

The speed of sound is a physical phenomenon. Measured in dry air at sea level at a temperature of 0 °C (32 °F), the modern value for the speed of sound is 331.29 m/s (1192.64 km/hr = 1 Mach) Hypersonic speed is an arbitrary speed, generally, Mach 5, depending on whom you ask. There is nothing “special” about hypersonic speed. The German V-2 ballistic missile penetrated the hypersonic range early in 1944 at speeds of Mach 5 (5474km/hr or 3400 mph). The first manufactured object to achieve hypersonic flight was the two-stage Bumper rocket, consisting of a WAC Corporal second stage set on top of a V-2 first stage. In February 1949, the rocket reached a speed of 8,288.12 km/h (5,150 mph), or approximately Mach 6.7. I can’t find any record that Russia had hypersonic missiles in 1946/49. Russian Major Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel at hypersonic speed, during the world's first piloted orbital flight. The space shuttle, while in the Thermosphere clocked 25 Mach before it entered eath’s atmosphere. A jetfighter travelling at 2.2 Mach fires an air to air missile at Mach 2 or Mach 3 the missile flies at Mach 5, e.g. hypersonic. So there is nothing "special" about hypersonic speed, all you need is "grunt".

Remember that the video the Russians presented only showed damage consistent with the kinetic energy of mach 2.5 when compared with the damage from our experimental rail guns. The Russians discounted this by saying it was unarmed but it is the unarmed damage that we're talking about. This is consistent with the public information of our hypersonic experiments, that like our ICBM's, hypersonic velocities are possible at altitude but speed is reduced to subsonic by the thicker atmosphere near the ground target and at speeds less than mach 5, scram jets do not operate so the missile also looses thrust and perhaps some maneuverability and hence becomes vulnerable to counter measures during the terminal phase. Also the hypersonic speeds can cause a plasma envelope to envelop from the friction of the the atmosphere which interferes with sensors such as radar and cameras and interferes with communications for remote control, if the speeds claimed are true, then the missiles are flying blind and without external control. There's reasons to be reserved about the claims made though a fast rock still does hurt. It could be a useful weapon but not likely to the extent that's being claimed.

By the time America can barely sniff the Kinzhal, Russia will have developed the next iteration in deadly missiles. The reason has more to do with the greedy corporate nature of Americas military industry
@angrycolonel1957
@angrycolonel1957 Жыл бұрын
The problem with defending against such a fast missile is the time between detection and impact, this missile will probably come from a high angel where most radars can't even see, but even if it does get detected, during the time from detection to launching a missile to intercept it, the kinzhal will probably reach its target, it is a missile after all, it is much smaller than a fighter, meaning it is harder to detect, so it might only get detected when its 50km away, if it can sustain a speed of mach10 until it hits its target it only needs 15 seconds to reach the target, and that is if they fired only one, imagine if they fired 10 of them at the carrier, at least 1 is guaranteed to get through the defences

Narrator strikes a fine balance between giving enough useful information and not sounding foolish or too overly pompous. Makes it's points clearly and usually uses decently good logic. Maybe glossed over the "There's no currently available defense" part a little too quickly. And has anyone noticed, as fun as this all is, that we are spending enormous sums of money on better ways to kill eachother. I can think of maybe a million more positive things we could be spending the money on. But we won't, because there's something in our souls that understands the threat of an enemy and wants to war against it. But doesn't understand threats like: climate change, water insecurity, pandemic virus's of the future. Or the present. We have such huge blind spots which we refuse to seriously do anything about. We are in just such big and deep trouble. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this all turns out okay.

New generation 1200km operation radius hypersonic land to sea cruise missle able to neutralize any super carriers (no gun or missiles able to hit them once it launches) Because all F-35 and F-18 only operate less than 1000km combat range from enemy shore. So it will put super carriers 1000km from enemy shore line, which put carriers fleet no use (fighter jets unable to fly to enemy shore without air refueling)! Is it true? If the carrier stay 1000km somewhere in pacific ocean, F18 or F35 unable to fly to enemy shore line because operation range is less than 1000km for fligher jet without air refueling.... If carriers stay too close to the shore (i.e less than 1000km) it will be attacked by hypersonic missile Hypersonic missile will put super carrier strategy obsolete in 22th century warfare? is it true? The missile only makes sense if it carries a nuclear warhead. But that is a very extreme use case.

Military contractors do not speak of what may be available in our arsenal. So it’s very likely that we have things available to counteract the hypersonic missile. If not completed nearly completed. We’ve been using solid rocket fuel for many years it’s a matter of Adapting The technology.

Just like the Gotland sunk our carrier in a war game n disappeared undetected. We are NOT invincible especially against a nuclear enemy.

@@osuk1 no one wins in a nuclear war it's like Tic-Tac-Toe., besides There's more to defense than hypersonic missiles. The war games that Theoretically sunk the The Ronald Reagan used a Sterling engine,if you want to call it that, The traditional sonar could not detect The Gotland. So the Swedes after the war games Give us the submarine to study for a month to help our military Counter act It's stealthiness. We don't know what they have developed or learned during that month. Now the navy has a different way to detect submarines instead of using passive sonar only, They now use frequency response to detect ships through their operating systems..And as I said before Contractors do not Speak of measures and counter measures they are developing. I've seen some incredible things in my job But not all things!

do you think Russian speak or shows off of what they really have behind? no one does it, nor the US nor the Russian what I can tell you is the following, US invades countries in disavantage and never dare to invade Russia and viceversa, they both have too much arsenal to blow the entire planet, what I can tell you something too, you guyes from the US are so much errogant and that is why people do not like you in the world, your country has invaded so many countries in the history more than anybody else and have destroyed entire families, towns, people, and still play the heroes, I am not in favor of Russia but US has been even worse to the World.

Our duties is to keep the peace in the world it's the Putins Of the world We need to keep in check and what I've seen of his army thus far in the Ukrainian war aint squat!And I'll tell you this, if he steps on one of us in NATO He will feel the wrath of the world.
