Kinzua Sky Walk Bridge - Located in Pennsylvania, in the Kinzua Bridge State Park.
Kinzua Bridge State Park is a 339-acre Pennsylvania state park near Mount Jewett, in Hamlin and Keating Townships, McKean County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The park lies between U.S. Route 6 and Pennsylvania Route 59, along State Route 3011 just east of the Allegheny National Forest.
The Kinzua Sky Walk extends out 624 feet into the Kinzua Gorge offering panoramic views. The skywalk features a walkway with a set of railroad tracks leading to the end of the overlook which has a partial glass floor. At a stunning height of 225 feet above the valley floor, visiting the Kinzua Sky Walk is an exciting opportunity to “Walk the Tracks across the Sky.”
On July 21st, 2003 a F1 tornado struck the Kinzua Bridge at speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour, leaving a large part of the historic trestle in ruins. Due to the high cost of repairing the 121-year-old bridge, the state decided to use the remaining structure to create a pedestrian walkway that would allow visitors to view the breathtaking gorge below. Remnants and wreckage of the bridge remain in the gorge, allowing users to imagine the scale and length of the bridge in its heyday.
Park amenities include forestland picnic areas, a park pavilion-available for rental, hiking trails and the new Kinzua Bridge State Park Visitors Center. Lots of hands on things in the visitors center for all ages to take part in..
