You don’t have to justify doing the right thing. I’m a contractor & I totally agree. No drinking on any job. Not even for lunch. You did them a favor. A man that needs to drink during the day is a drunk and his mind & priorities are not in the job. Or his safety or yours. You made the right call.

Living and working on farm is a lot of work but the kids are the life blood of the farm and they keep the old ones young, just a wonderful thing. As for drinking on the job that is never a good thing, you could lose a lot if someone got hurt. You did the right thing to get rid of the b apples.

I'm a new fan of yours all the down here in New Zealand. Our dairy farm's are farmed generally on pasture. There's alot of moving parts , occupational hazards on your farm, I tip my hat to you. You can't have people drinking in that environment. Love your work.

I agree with you KIP, I would of done the same thing. Theres no reason why you have to be liable for their mistakes especially if they are drinking on the job and if they are drinking on the job they have a problem and should be addressed immediately ! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and spent time with the family after chores. Life on the farm moves on no matter what day of the week it is, or what season it is. Love your brownish colored calves, guess you have to sign them up for track team, or hurdles or high jump lol !

Good job, Ashley. Not only with the camera but showing the calves who's boss. Good for you Kip, for kicking the contractors off the farm. There are other contractors out there, that will do the job for you. It only takes one slip and the family farm could be history. Happy Thanksgiving to the family.

Went to the barn before I was in first grade! First grade teacher ask me when my birthday was, I said when you filling silos, she says when's that? She didn't know when you fill silo, she's the teacher!! It's Sept.! I threw silage out of 14x60's by hand many times! twice around as deep as the fork would go, then feed it all with a wheelbarrow, 1 load to 4 cows!

Happy Thanksgiving to all !! Ours had to change because of the virus but still had a,small gathering ! Having to pick up the slack is,a burden but getting that young generation involved is pretty cool even if the circumstances aren't great !! When there's somebody there that you're not sure of their name means yours is,a popular hangout place and your kids are popular place to be even if it's work !! They can choose to have fun with it if they want , those calves gotta,.make friends fast !! Your relationship with your cows is outstanding , you read their minds pretty well I believe !

with your brothers broken leg it's not normally the bone that is the problem healing it is the nerves that have been ripped in the accident - it feeling like you are getting an electric shock as they try to join back together - sometimes they catch then heal, others just shock off - the pain in the night is the worst and nerves take 9-10 months to join back together and heal - healing nerves it like touching the electric fence so that can be what his leg feels like especially at night
