This is a long video, I've trimmed it down as much as possible, however I wanted this to be a guide for someone to follow along and install their mod too! I also give this console a well deserved clean too!

a tip: when you solder headers, you can plug them (both sides) into a breadboard or another socket with correct spacing to have them straight and just pull the soldered assembly out after you finish soldering.

Nice vid, just so you know IPA isn't actually a cleaner and windowlene would do a much much better job and won't dry the plastics out anymore unlike the IPA.

This is well after the fact, but the console is perfectly safe with a good wash in the sink with warm dishwashing liquid and a soft nylon brush… Oh, and those tabs for the face plate are pretty resilient; I’ve had no problems with the heavy sixer and the two 4-switch models (one Woody, one Vader) I’ve cleaned before. The label is a legit concern, but as long as you don’t touch/scrub it until it co platelet dries, it too is OK. This mod would probably also benefit by using a Genesis Model two style AV connector - not only would it integrate the audio into the single connection, but it would also allow for the console to be used with HD Retrovision’s component cables . 🙂

This has been such an amazing video to watch. This was the first games console I played on. Space Invaders was the first game I played too. You've done a fantastic job, restoring and modifying this (cleaning it too - it was grim) Really loved seeing the process. Well done Kip 🎉

Hey Kip, where did you find this mod? I just looked at Tim's shop and it says that it isn't being produced any longer because the components are too costly. Game over man!

Old skool consoles might have stock if you email.

I just checked and it's being redesigned. However, there's no time window for when it'll be done. "The 2600RGB is out of stock and is no longer economically viable to manufacture in its current form. It is due for a resdesign, but I currently don't have an estimate on when it will be ready."
