I recommend forgetting the 8 ring shot style caps and using the strip caps (not the tape, the strip usually used in repeater/shotgun style play guns, they are very easy to separate, are cheap, and have a lot per pack and per strip

You'd need a barrel, because without one casings just rupture and the bullet doesn't fire. Also, C4 does not go off with bullets. You can cook it, burn it, shoot it and it doesn't go off. The whole point of plastic explosives is being relatively inert so that it only goes live when you insert the blasting cap.

You are correct, I'm sorry, I was thinking of Tannerite. Given that Tannerite is much easier to obtain then C4 and still relatively effective, it may be a better option.

I wanted to elaborate that this same principal can be used with those 'singing bass fishes' you can buy at Walmart. Laser trip wires, and electronic detonators can be had for $20. Then its just a matter of knowing how to make explosives.

they make caps that come in grids instead of rings so you could cut a whole strip. also theres roll caps that come on a paper strip that would work nicely as well though i dont know how loud they are

What I have is fishing wire, connected to a piece of small cardboard big enough to keep a cloth line peg open. The peg has tin foil (or aluminium foil for some countries) on the peg so when the peg is closed, the foil touches. Then I had the + wire of a battery connecting to one piece of tin/aluminium on the peg, then the - wire of the battery connecting to the - of an alarm (I have an old car alarm,) then the + of the alarm connecting to the other side of the foil on the peg. @pianomansas Cap blast is too quick to ignite a fuse; it'll likely blow it apart. Instead use screw beneath bail of trap to make a switch. Switch D-cell into zip cord to a short length of fine wire wrapped around fuse. Wire is from an old relay, transformer or even speaker voice coil. Needs to be heavy enough to stay red hot for second and fine enough to burn open after few seconds to save discharging the batt. Replace the wire for the next shot. Mount switch, batt, rocket on one pole.
