And here I am just rolling my European eyes. I freaking hate when people call people Caucasians. The caucasus region is quite literally the single worst place in Europe. Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan make up Transcaucasia. Which you will shortly understand why we call it the South Caucasus. Anyway these guys hate each other with a passion. Which means that they have for the past 30 years been in a constant state of at first hot and then cold wars. And just to the north we the Russian Ciscaucasia. Which you have probably guessed is the North Caucasus. The Russian Federal Government is technically a source of peace and tolerance in the region. In practice will they use any means necessary to control the strategically defensible mountain ranges and the oil fields. Chechnya is the first thing that comes to mind. But that’s a story for another day. So in summary: I see no pride in the calling myself a Caucasian. And I am as white as the Danes get.

Actually wolf kinda commented on it by saying "skin untouched by the sun" which made me think all the humans that lived in burrows had purple skin which when I saw her dad made me confuddled as heck but then I thought her dad may have spent time on the surface. But then the real reason came out and it was kinda like "huh". I'm guessing no one question questioned it because they were either used to it or just thought that's what burrow girls looked like. It's either that or no one cares about skin colour at all in this world and nothing is considered "the norm"

I know, right? I initially thought all the Burrow humans were had pale/purple skin. I mean, even Jamock the Mod Frog mentions, when he first meets Kipo, that she "looks more like a Burrow Girl," which led me to think that 200 years underground had done something to the Burrow folk if they could be recognized on sight as such. But no, it wasn't that, and the real reason, while sorta cool, doesn't justify the lack of reaction the actual human characters have. I mean, Wolf should have freaked out and thought Kipo was a mute the first time they met if no other human has that shade of color. Yet Wolf reacts as if it's normal, which only reinforced the belief that all Burrow humans were like Kipo. Disappointing.

I agree it is strange no one mentioned her purple skin. In the beginning I assumed that all under ground humans lost there pigment after generations lacking of sun. But after we saw her father, I thought she was just a stylized albino.

I don't think that humans would lose skin pigment that quickly. I thought it was a weird stylization but then after she's revealed to have purple mega-jaguar DNA in her blood it all made sense.

@@jjaa_joyjoyartist Well, normally it would take longer for cave albinism to evolve in a human population, but this is also a show about bees that talk in dubstep and cars that haven't rusted to nothingness even though they have been exposed to the elements for two hundred years. Them all turning purple in a short amount of time would make a lot more sense than most of the show.

Whenever I see someone talk about Kipo's skin color I feel like I'm experiencing that "what color is the dress?" meme from a few years ago, except if the number of people who saw the dress as one color was "me" and the number who saw it as the other color was "everyone else." I kinda like this show, but I definitely don't think I'm loving it after its first 2 seasons. That being said its got some things I freaking love, and appreciate. A cast of people of color (though I'm still not sure if Kipo counts in a way), a gay black male main cast character, an initial villain that actually has some proper depth for a kids show (crossing my fingers for you-know-who to be as fleshed out), and a banging soundtrack. Also I think Glimm- er. . . I mean I love Kipo's voice lol Not so much of a big of the artstyle and the design for Kipo's later transformation actually made laugh pretty hard on initial viewing. Animation itself is definitely pretty safe, but there are times where (just like She-Ra) I wish the action scenes had a little more time or budget to really sell them. But yeah; I'm there for season 3, just hoping its set up is paid off well. Also; can is it ok that calling the mutants mutes was a little odd? I actually did a double take on that; because that's like calling a race of people blinds or deafs. Just seems a little odd to have gone for that name; correct me if I'm wrong, and some other franchise or story used that name before Kipo!
