Haven't seen the video yet. And I'll say, I love the show and I only have 2 problems with it. 1. When Benson and Dave spoke about how they were "only surviving" before they met Kipo. This goes against Benson's entire introduction and arc at Rat Park. Both of which are beautiful character moments. He was never "only surviving". He was Wolf's opposite. 2. Some of the Sakuga could've been placed in a fight rather than entirely character moments. Aside from that, this show is insane.

Benson and Dave seem to have a different point of view as to what just surviving means. For Wolf it seems to be literally surviving the day and making sure you have enough food to eat to keep going. For Benson and Dave it seems that just surviving is going from day to day, never really having a concrete goal other than just making it through the weeks. After they joined up with Kipo however they have always had a concrete goal, and they've pretty much always been working towards something more meaningful than just their own self interest. For instance, after they get to the destroyed burrow, they're working towards getting Kipo back to her people so that they can have the easy life, so to speak, in a burrow. Along the way they help various groups learning the value of doing selfless acts.

I agree with Brian; and I personally have felt that sense of "just surviving" in the sense of Dave and Benson. Even when otherwise my life was good and fun I very much felt like I was 'just surviving' for most my life until I learned what nonbinary was and came out shortly after. Now I actually feel like im not just surviving, but Im thriving.

I also thought that was odd, but I think that her young companions (and nonhuman captors) might initially assume that any unusual things about Kipo are due to her origins in the Burrow, because it's not something anyone else is familiar with. "That's weird, is that a thing Burrow people do? Must be..."

@@EmmaBonn96 that's a good question; there aren't a lot of scenes that seem to establish much of her family's overall standing in the Burrow in season 1 (haven't binged 2 yet), but even if she didn't know why, your idea about Burrow pox could definitely be an initial explanation offered by Science Dad to placate others and Kipo. Hoping there's more exposition there in the new season (happy watching, if you also haven't yet!).

Season two was amazing, and my favorite part is when *spoiler for season two* They didn't redeem Scarlemagne. I was worried at first that her talk with him and her dad's confession would change his heart too fast, but that twist with the gold frogs was scary and amazing. It made so much sense with his insane mind and kept him a bad guy even when he was, from the bottom of his heart, trying to "help" her by doing something "nice."

honestly tho there's talkin' bugs n shit is it, anyone's priority or business to be concerned why a kid's skin is purple? I'm assuming in the burrow, where there's a lot of time to know everyone, people had their adjustment and question period to that, but we generally don't see much interaction between that. When she meets human resistance, she's a fucking jAGUAR so i think why she's a *purple* jaguar is like, not even worth asking. People above don't seem to know much about burrow people so like either she's a funky lookin' surface human who they got no time for, or a funky lookin' burrow person who they also have no time for. I guess with mutes they got other priorities or hate humans too much to care.

(In general) Movies and series always show conflict (and climax). Without it, it has less impact on our emotion and involvement as a viewer. Not to specifically lie to us, but to persevere our feelings towards a show. A very powerful thing that Kipo did, is to give characters realistic ambitions when spoken from the heart. Every 'villain' in the world of Kipo has shared their inside thoughts *with* Kipo, coming to terms for what _*"has" *_ to be done. The serie showed a very nuanced story in a great detailed world design with: ambitious characters being themselves, a plot that show humor and great music that should be a genre on its own. All in an art style that feels new to me and it's all done in character-driven conflict. The whole storyline becomes more and more intertwined with each other, because a lot of characters (even 'villains') compliment with other characters. It show conflict in a fashionable way, because it isn't just some thing. Is character-driven conflict with a wink to all the happenings. Where plot and the goal has always been the focus, but with characters you can make episodic events out of. The characters? Done ingenious! Characters like Scarlemagne, Jamack, Wolf, Kipo and Dave have been very favorable to me (Mulholland is great too after all). What I love about them, is the way they express and act as themselves. The do-good-believing Kipo, the manipulate sensible but sensitive Scarlemagne, the entrepreneury action-packed frog Jamack, the simple proud but funny Dave and the survivable smart cautious Wolf. *_All these characters have so much charm_* and I want to believe that a show/serie like Kipo could be a new standard for character driven plots! Kipo just gained some new respect me. I think it deserves a praise, for being one of a kind and being a master with (movie-like)conflict! Thanks for the experience, love what you've done DreamWorks! I actually *did* shed a tear, *_twice_* at the end, you probably know why ;)
