Most people use Incineroar because he's meta.... I use him because he's essentially Tiger Mask, and King from Tekken.

"Those have been around since Gen3, right?" Yup. In fact, the 7th gym - Tate & Liza - did this with their Emerald team, sporting a Claydol for its EQ user, the flying Xatu, and the Levitating Solrock and Lunatone. Mind you, Claydol isn't all that strong physically, but EQ hitting the entire field without losing power is absurd regardless. On top of that, it's a Psychic gym, and even though Dark and Steel were becoming more common it's still a powerful type (and Solrock could SunnyBeam to cover the team's overall weakness to Water-types). Gen3 was my jam. 😂

12:30 you have those two nerfs reversed, Gen 6 nerfed Steel to no longer res DarkGhost and Gen 7 nerfed Parental Bond.

👆 this Same gen games need to be able to link up with each other, so changing battle mechanics mid gen would probably cause some problems.

I've used Bisharp ever since it was introduced in gen V. It's my favorite pokemon and I was so happy when I found out that they got an evolution in Scarlet and Violet. What's your favorite pokemon Kip? Oh nevermind. Whimsicott is pretty cool, fellow Black and White fan.

28:18 Yeah naw, they are well aware of how much Incinerator is used and are all for it. In every subsequent gen since it's introduction, it's movepool has been buffed! (Parting Shot Gen 8) (Helping Hand Gen 9)

65% is the cut off for tier 0 in yugioh, Sprights, tearlaments, zoodiacs, spyrals, teledad, i think snake-eyes were tier 0 when they came out, but i'm not sure. Amusingly Dragon rulers were never tier 0 because Spellbook of Judgement single handedly prevented them from reaching tier 0 lol.

31:28 see... I would agree... But at the same time we run the risk of them turn into Smogon 2... And the way Smogon goes about banning certain things can feel rather.... Destructive, so to speak. They say they avoid complex bans as much they can (they just avoid them entirely)... For.... Whatever reason. And this has made it so certain pokemon got thrown under the bus unfairly since they have other niches and roles they can perform without being busted and CAN be quite healthy for the metagame if used right.... But since they have such an aversion to complex bans... We just straight up can't use Froslass in Gen 4 OU even if you don't have anything to setup hail... Though, Froslass also serves the niche of being a decently fast spikes setter that is immune to rapid spin. Or just the way they've been handling Jirachi and Machamp. Jirachi wasn't banned despite Iron Head + Serene Grace being literally so annoying that people are starting to leave Gen 4 OU... But then banned Machamp because No Guard + Dynamic Punch is just as frustrating..... Even though Machamp is a perfectly fine pokemon if he isn't running Dynamic Punch. And Jirachi is actually GREAT for the metagame and is a healthy addition when isn't paraflinching his opponents into a downwards spiral- But no... We can't have complex bans because we "must be ''''''consistent'''''" So... Yeah... It may look and sound bad... But VGC being less strict than unofficial formats can be a blessing in disguise, sometimes.

Incineroar was HOW COMMON in VGC?! Sakurai predicted the future by adding him into Smash.

28:25 that's the neat part: you don't. VGC doesn't tend to do bans.. Just look at how Smogon chucked Mega Rayquaza into AG while VGC kept it completely legal for one generation and a half. Or how they allowed Miraidon in Reg H despite already knowing that it's beyond busted. Or how they technically don't have restrictions on sleep like Smogon does... They literally just don't care and let you use anything that isn't a mythical... Or in Scarlet/Violet's case, anything that's allowed in the current Regulation.... Which is basically just their way of slowly adding more pokemon to the metagame, in order to keep it fresh. In any case.... Yeah, they don't tend to ban stuff.... But in a way that's kinda what makes VGC so interesting imo. You just get to go balls to the wall. And breaking the mold can sometimes pay off very well... Besides, i feel like doubles is always the more interesting format. Stakes feel higher, it's faster paced, but it also allows for more variety and niches Because you have to consider the synergy between pokemon when they're BOTH on the field at the same time.

Personally, I think Incineroar is healthy for the meta, slowing down hyperoffence. Note how it gets the same or *more* usage in Restricted formats

How do you nerf Incineroar? The easiest way is change the move pool and/or ability. Gen 10 could see it lose a coupl move and losing something like Fake Out or Knock Off would be huge without diectly banning it.
