Marines absolutely LOVE using animals. Even today they will sometimes “adopt” stray dogs and essentially convert them to be used for things like crowd control or taking down unarmed enemies trying to flee. And of course, sometimes even use them as bomb sniffing dogs. As well as using our own trained dogs that get trained over here for that and then get take over there. And it’s not just the marines that do that nowadays, the army will do it too sometimes. But yeah our military and especially the marines have always loved using animals as help on the battlefield. So much so that there’s a lot of activists out there even way back when that shamed them for putting these animals at risk in a dangerous environment like war. Which on one hand I understand, but on another, the animals essentially love doing this stuff, and they can be key to helping and arguably saving many of our own soldiers lives because they are capable of doing things humans either can’t do at all, or take much much longer to do. And they’re smart enough to hide and get to a safe place when they need to, so the chances of them actually getting taken out or hurt is smaller than you’d think because the handlers don’t want to risk the animals life when they don’t need to. But when it is needed or it does happen, I like to think the animal feels proud to have served and had such a real purpose and gave its body or life to help save us. Animals are a lot smarter than people give them credit for, and I’m willing to bet they know full well they’re helping save people’s lives and that if they get hurt or killed, they have that same kind of pride for what they’ve done with their life as a human soldier does
@Rednecknerd_rob963414 күн бұрын
And plus, I doubt that, lets say a Platoon would let the animal get hurt, and if it did then that Platoon is like, "You've chosen death."

Reckless didn't need to be smuggled, and in fact had Ed Sullivan fighting for her to appear on the Ed Sullivan show, but the ship was delayed by a typhoon. THAT SAID, the government said she could attend the party after having blood drawn, but if she tested positive for at least one of two diseases, they'd either put her down or ship her back to Japan. The marines were *furious* about this, because one of the two diseases was *sexually transmitted* between horses, so they took it as the government insulting her honor and her chastity and were fuckin pissed about it.

I will say, smuggle a horse, yes. Yes we will, have and can, or anything else for that matter, through bribes. Or force. I’d stealth isn’t an option. I’ll say this much, USMC vet here, our CO made a comment in passing about how more shade would be nice and help keep all the buildings and headquarters cooler, this the begging of the height of the surge in Iraq…guess what, that night, we went out, got multiple 5 tons and various overhear trucks and trailers, theat we never officially had…and we proceeded to dig up and steal 30 palm trees that night, then dog and plant them. Before our CO was back at 0430…needless to say we loved that CO, he was and is the man. Yes we dig up 30 trees by hand and loaded them by hand, in one night, then proceeded to dig holes for them and replant them. All in one night. While still doing our job and doing missions. Whe he showed up and it got light about 45 minutes later…he’s was flabbergasted, said some words, then just said you know what, I don’t want to know, never brought it up again. And that day, he truly learned the power of a good CO in The Corps. When you are one and your men love you, be careful what you say. We will make said thing happen, no matter what. We woulda set him up as a pirate king, warlord of a nation if he wanted, even suggested that. The moral is don’t fuck with Marines. We can and will do anything g we choose to do.

One hazing ritual at Walmart is to bring the Milk Pallet from receiving to the Cooler - - - > With a Yellow Manual Pull Jack, which can only be pulled by hand. The average Milk Pallet is 868kg or 1913.61lbs, and depending on the store layout. The receiving area is about 500 meters or 1000 yards away from the cooler. You also have a 5 minute time limit as it takes 10 to 15 minutes to properly go over the shipping manifest to make sure the store got what it ordered. The reason why you get 5 minutes is because its an OSHA Health and Food Safety violation for Dairy Products to be unrefrigerated longer than 20 minutes. There is, on average, 6 Pallets of Milk that gets delivered every 2 days and the new guys wont get approved for Power Jack training until their probation period is up. XD

Meh. Try pulling double-stacked skids of feed (each is about a ton), pallets of paver blocks, or large pallets of ammunition. one ton is nothing with a hand jack unless it is uphill, and even then a running start helps. When you start looking at the service plate or stencils to see what the max load is for the jack and are pretty sure you passed it already, then you have a bit of work. The best retail prank is to get the newb involved in helping set a plan-o-gram and then realize you are going to need the 'Wall stretcher' for the task. Send them out to various places they need to check to find it and wait to see what they come back with. Classic.

Hello Kip, i can answer your question about foreign primary sources used in papers of every subject, mine is history. Keep in mind that i am not a teacher and i would be one in the next 3 years. I have asked multiple teachers about this idea and all have mention that it can be done but to have it cited to where everyone of my class or anyone who happen to view my paper can easily and reeasily have the source can be a challenege. Its an acceptable form of ciitng and researching sources, especially when you can have a different perspective on the same subject and see the viewpoints of the same events. One great example is where i manage to find mutiple primary sources of communication telegraphs between german leaderships and commanding officers on the front lines, seeing how desperate they were food and resources. Keep in mind i was still able to find it a US backed governemnt website where i could sounload a pdf and transcript but the original source and image thst was provided was of an actual german document with the enigma code deciphered by espionage agents and later transcripted for future uses. So tl/dr, its perfectly acceptable, jsut got to know how to do it correctly and ethically.

So, every time i hear the part of Reckless repeatedly going up and down the hill delivering the rounds and the soldiers thinking theyre sending her to her death makes me tear up. Such a heroic fucking story.

I dropped 1k to K9s for Veterans, just so you'd be covered on this.

And oh know we can’t only do so much. Us Marines are truly superhuman. Why is that? Through our beliefs and actions. We become superhuman. All you gotta do is look at our history to see that. Regular guys become Marines. And Marines become superhuman, the gods of war. Through their decisions, determination. Actions and beliefs. We have regularly done the impossible or improbable. That’s regular. What’s expected. You yourself touched on that many times always understaffed, under equipped. With old stuff, at least a decade out of date in most cases, we win, and win in a truly stunning fashion, against all odds in every major war.

Like a lot of things that never get touched on in US History classes, the Korean War is never mentioned and/or glossed over because it wasn't a shining success ( I mean, technically it never ended and North Korea is still a bastion of communism and human rights violations ) and there were moments that America wasn't too proud of and would prefer forgotten. Vietnam is the war that broke the trend of just quietly never mentioning stuff because it was so widely covered in all forms of media. This is mostly a good thing and will hopefully never go away ( though those news outlets that think hounding the brass for details of their plans before they get carried out really should get reined in )

As far as I'm aware with my experience writing research papers throughout university, accessing a source through a VPN is essentially the same as using a university database to bypass paywalls of publishers. It's a tool at your disposal and it doesn't alter the information presented. As long as you're able to properly cite the source you found, it doesn't really matter how you found it. That being said, if there *is* a source you want to access but it is behind a publisher's paywall, and you don't have a database to access? The best way to get around that restriction is to reach out to any of the authors of the paper and request access to it. The authors do not make any money from these publishers and are almost *always* happy to share their work with people who are interested.

I love how everyone rags on the marines like they're a bunch of dumbasses, but they also get things done by thinking outside the box. Makes me think of the idiot savant perk from fallout. Failing upwards 🚀🚀

Grog is not just for cavalry Scouts, a lot of military personal do it as a like ceremony at a lot of military balls stuff and while the tradition started in the Calvary, grog was common well before that with sailors including us navey sailors. they would mix rum or other alcohol, sugar, lime and water(different groups had different names for it and they use different ingredients, but it was all essentially the same thing) to sterilize and help the taste. The only real difference between these two types is the Calvary had more than one type of alcohol involved. it’s not the drink if it’s important, it was the goal behind the drink because when it was originally done, it was to make sure every one of them got a drink not just the ones who had alcohol
