Someone definitely needs to react to the marathon and pathways into darkness saga by mandalore as well. They are so well made and definitely interesting, Especially the video on marathon infinity. This guy does such good editing work and it really shows.

Add the Homeworld reviews to that. The Cataclysm review is excellent.

Seconded. Watch the marathon and pathway into darkness videos. You don't need to know the games to appreciate the lore, and mandalore does the best job I've seen at explaining the lore in those games.

Mandalore gaming? Now it is only a matter of time before one of them reacts to the Mystery of the Druids

Alias Isolation is just a pun referencing the game title and the function of the mod (fixing the aliasing issues in the game). So it's not a coincidence, since Alias Isolation was created specifically for Alien: Isolation. 🙂

uh, spoilers for the 43 year old movie but at the end of Alien, Ripley kind of points to home and deep freezes herself. In the sequel, Aliens, she wakes up over 50 years later and told pretty much everyone she knew was dead. They did mention her family in the second film briefly but narratively it was more to set up that even though she won and survived in the first film she still lost in the end. In essence nobody knows what happened to her daughter which is a cool plot device because she totally could go on this trip and die here. So you don't have that situation where this is a prequal to Aliens and obviously Ripley lives, so much could happen in 50 years and really the cooperation she works for is so slimy, they totally would falsify records to cover up what really happened. In relation to games though. I don't think this is everyone's first reaction but I feel you need some difficulty in a game even if you don't think that's the case. I think if a game was brain dead easy then it lacks the same highs and lowers any good story had and it loses the player interaction that makes a game a game. Like in this, as a horror game, what makes it scary, is more the atmosphere and the threat of the alien. If you're playing this for say 2 hours and say you find out standing on a desk stops the alien for attacking you, then the alien quickly goes from this terrifying threat to an annoyance. At that point you lost the horror in the horror game. It's kind of the same in most games. Like Dark Souls, your fighting this demon king. How do you know he's the demon king? Well because when he hits you, you lose most your health and your face in imprinted into the ground. Then when you beat the demon king you feel like the greatest badass in the world because you hard to work for it. If you just poked him with a butter knife and he died, that wouldn't feel as good.

to add a little bit for your question about who hates the game. I personally think the reason they hate the game is kinda double sided. on one side they actually love the game for being a great horror game, but also hate it for the same reason. because it can be so fucking scary. so scary in fact that people physically got hurt inside themselves. either that or sheer trauma. even I who love horror games, find it so scary it feels like my heart is about to burst any moment. which isn't what most people want scary games. it's like going to a haunted attraction. it can either be okay and you might get a little scared. but you're not shitting yourself from the scare, or it can be so professionally made and so scary that it can gives you a heart attack. alien: isolation is the latter category.

Some people are pretty picky and don't like it for its length. Like IGN Back in the day. Now they would have gave it a 9/10 just to appease us.

yeah I get it with the music but I never knew about that aspect since if I have the option in a Horror Game I always turn the music off, just for exactly some of the reasons Mando Gaming mentioned, like the Horror Sting and tension build up. and for A:Iso I feel the natural sounds of the game are more than enough to keep it creepy and on the edge of your seat panic inducing! Especially in areas with absolutely no noise or music and you just stand there, wondering what is nearby before screaming when you take a step forwards and you accidently kicked a fucking box that marathon sprints down the hallway making an ungodly amount of racket... oh and now you hear something fall from the vent directly behind, it was nice knowing you as you go back to the last save point :)

As a previous proud owner of a laptop which might as well be called Toaster 40,000 This game ran on it. It ran well. Also If you don't have a computer you can now get it on your phone. Plus they have a game which is a FNAF style continuation of the story which came out on Mobile some time back. It's better than FNAF imo. Would recommend both games.
