Autophagy is the process where your body recycles dead or damaged cells in your body. Kind of like maximizing its resources and not letting things go to waste. I wonder if it does have a connection to the meaning of the song.

Aaron Balboa The creator said the song had to do with ruminating on shame, maybe it’s about wishing there was a use for the shame/embarrassment that won’t leave the character’s thoughts? Like when you can’t stop thinking about something awful you just wanna break and forget about it.

@@starling3029 At the end it seams that he eventually manages too push those thoughts away however in doing so it corrupts his though process turning him into a monster.

My theory is that this song has to do with rumination, the mental act of focusing on unpleasant thoughts for continued periods of time, associated with mental disorders like OCD. The character in this song seems to be suffering and talks to a mysterious entity (his thoughts) he hates. In the end, he breaks free from the cycle in a moment of clarity and anger. Realizing he suffered through days he lived pleasently and begins the steps of doing away of the washing of his mind. The black ink represents emotions and his are finally pouring out as he finally sees what needs to be done. The last line also represents this as he is now prepared for the "seeds of evil" to rise, which could mean either horrible thoughts (seeds) that may return but he can handle them or the evil of this world. As far as autophagy goes, rumination can be seen as autophagy of the mind. A self-destructive process for the purpose of protection.
