Technically "Lipan Conjuring" is part of the whole drug experience that is "Lost Keys" and "Rosetta Stoned". Sort of a sweat lodge / vision quest / tribal drug ingestion ritual (peyote or the like), then leading into losing reality during the experience, and then into hospital to tell the story of what happened during "Lost Keys".
@Spudz76Ай бұрын
"Did he see aliens" well they seemed like aliens, but it was the ambulance with all its intense lights and the medics dressed all in uniform "abducting" him, to hospital mothership. According to his grasp of reality at the time.

Tool is such an amazing band in so many ways. There's nobody else who sounds like them. They don't conform to the machinations of the industry, they make a record when they feel they got a record in them, and if that is once a decade, so be it, but every one of those records is a statement of relevancy. Their musical and lyrical output is consistently phenomenal, and although they are fantastic players, nothing ever comes across as flexing or showing off. Nothing is ever lackluster, either. Everything has an artistic purpose and an idea behind it, everything is in service of the song. Maybe more than any other band I know, they are painting with music. @kirawasareactor: I didn't check, but have you ever done a reaction to Maynard's other band Puscifer? If not, you NEED to do their album "Existential Reckoning". Trust me, you'll love it. 😊

First of all, this is so fun getting to vicariously (ha) listen through the album via YT. Really glad I finally got time to watch this whole thing in full. I wish I had more friends IRL to share my favorite music with, but these reactions really fill that void! So thank you for the whole album reaction! As a Tool fan, I can't help but be a little sad that you didn't have the full context for Wings for Marie pt.1 & 2....but it's all good. You did at least get that it's about his mom. Probably a billion comments already giving you the run-down, like how 10,000 days is a reference to approximately how long his mom was paralyzed before her death. It is indeed extremely personal, to the point they don't really play it live barely ever. But knowing the full context....the song hits like a TRUCK. It is #1 on songs that I can not actively listen to without soaking my cheeks. It hits right in the guts like no other. So while I know it's not as much of a bop as the first 2 songs, I hope you get to have that experience of listening through it with the content in the future (maybe in your own time, lol) and, in the best way I can mean this, I hope it *wrecks* you, the way only the best music can! :) So funny that you said Lost Keys put you on edge, because I find that one very oddly comforting....even with the drone. xD Not as much as Intention/Right In Two though...the latter of which is probably my overall favorite Tool song. :D Tool really transcends what might be considered "music" - sometimes it's not a beat, just some noise basically, etc....but it's somehow part of the experience. :) With Rosetta Stoned it's like...I don't even know what it is. It's got riffs, but is it a song? Is it a chronology of a bad trip? Who knows, who cares. It's just fun. :D "...shit the bed again....typical..." has got to be one of the wildest 'lyrics' in music, hahaha! Or is Intension a song or more like a...meditative chant? They just go places pop music could never, and I'm here for it. Again, super fun reaction. Love how animated you are. Thanks again! Hopefully your back is OK. xD

"Judith" (with his other project, "A Perfect Circle") is also part of the saga and still within an anger phase of grief. Technically "Opiate" is also thematically related but more about the errors of congregations and/or organized religion. "jimmy" which you already heard was also a piece about when she was initially paralyzed and Maynard was 11 ("eleven and you were gone..."), and the lowercase is intentional because he was little jimmy (Maynard James). 10000 Days is how long she lived while unable to actually participate, but still loved God.
