Now that you mention it, she didn't eat with the others in the cutscene after defeating Pix. She kinda just sat there watching. Maybe she canonically ate a bug off camera, but the idea just stayed with the development team so the rest of us either assumed that she already ate something else or just wasn't hungry

Like, it's funny, silly, maybe even a bit gross, and you're just curious about the thought process behind it. In fact, it's a good thing you bring up 02, the source of all Dark Matter... that has a cactus/thorny bramble tail and attacks you with it by releasing green gas clouds. He attacks you by passing gas.
