That's because the Hydra had an extraordinary speed stat but not much else, while the Dragoon had great everything and let you fly damn near infinitely. Basically, unless the finale was a drag race, the Dragoon was always better than the Hydra was! 8:03 he could've kept going another 3000.

​​@@GoodfellaZeta4873Would be cool if Kirby in Smash used the Hydra for his final smash, and he builds the Hydra on-stage and you have a short time to charge and aim, then, upon releasing the charge, the game slows down for a brief moment for effect, before the Hydra zooms in the direction you aim, attacking a wide area in a straight line like Samus's final smash (but one swift hit rather than many hits, obviously) This isn't quite how it works in Kirby Air Ride, of course, because the Hydra doesn't have almost any vertical functionality, but I think this would at least capture the feeling of dread from one's enemies as the Hydra charges power before rushing towards them Edit: Actually, I forgot that the Dragoon is already a three-part item in the latest Smash games, so they could just add the Hydra as another three-part item with the functionality I described

Back when I had this game, my brother and I would play together all the time, and we had this agreement that anytime we found a legendary piece, we'd tell each other about it. His favorite was the Hydra, and mine was the Dragoon. We had more than one interesting match where we each had our favorite rides. I miss this game so much.

***** Definitely. I've played against lvl 9 npcs and when I got Dragoon, it got destroyed from an npc at the very last second, and I STILL won at Air Glider. Although, the AI for this game is weird: they're very aggressive, but don't do so well at certain events.

This brings me back growing up, Gamecube was all I really had until later when I got an 360 and even then I still played the hell out of my Gamecube. I still have all of my games and my system too including the cd case that came with it, shit's about 10-11 years old by now and still runs perfectly. Also still got the LoZ collector's edition too, first time a promo CD convinced me to buy a game, which ended up being Windwaker of course. Those were some good times This game was the hardest yet the best ever, I never managed to get any of the specials and I spent so much time playing City Trial I know it like the back of my hand

Kirby Air Ride is still an awesome (and underrated) game. I still have my original GameCube (with a Broadband Adapter) and my original copy of Kirby Air Ride, and both work great. The LAN option is fun, too; I have three other GameCube's that also have Broadband Adapter's. Playing the City Trial mode with four TV's, four GameCube's, and three other players is one of the most amazing experiences I've had in 25+ years of playing video games.

recreationtime They do make you fly farther to an extent. They balance out the effect of gliding. Wings make you go up, weights make you go forward if you have the same amount as glides.

In my opinion, Dragoon is all round much better. It's speedy and of course can fly very far. With Hydra, yes it is strong, fast and can easily win you a Drag race. But it needs charge, and sucks at gliding. Also, while its charging in a battle, players can attack you.

I agree in my opinion dragoons kinda over rated and these are the minigames that there good at Dragoon: high jump air glider (maybe) target flight drag race and og race Hydra:drag race (maybe) destruction derby kirby melee og race and vs king dedede(do not kill me this is just an opinion and I'm goddamn late)

If anyone is wondering what happens when you construct the two: the first one you collected disappears. What I don't know is if the pieces respawn so you can get it again.

I don't think they do. In my experience with the game, it isn't random if a box has a part in it. Instead, the game chooses whether the match will have Dragoon, Hydra, both or neither parts dropping, then drops a box containing them after so much time has passed.

GameCube used to have online, but it was cancelled. It's actually impossible. If you're talking about connecting GameCubes, finding a Broadband Adapter is your only option.

According to both Kirby wikis, it actually increases weight, providing a straighter gliding path, preventing sliding, and reducing knockback from attacks. That said, there are disadvantages and advantages to increasing or decreasing it. As I previously stated, I prefer the effects gained from negative weight patches (being able to rise vertically while still keep your vehicle straight), but I am aware of the increased amount of sliding that will come about as consequence.

Hmm... after testing, this is true. Each weight patch seems to increase top speed by about .50 (at least for the Compact Star, probably more or less for other vehicles). Although, I think I'll still prefer having about -2 or -3 collective weight because the Top Speed patches I collect will negate that small issue and the other reasons I listed all still apply. Thank you for telling me about that property; I never knew about that before honestly, and I find it fairly interesting.

I don't want to seem like an asshole, but I usually get the Hydra or Dragoon every time I play. Probably like 8 times out of 10, and I'd say 4/10 I get both. I don't know if my game is bugged or something or because I always know where the boxes with pieces will spawn, but getting a legendary seems to be a normal occurrence for me.

Kirby Air Ride is a Game Cube game, so no. You are not able to play Game Cube games with a Wii Remote.

My cousins and I were playing. My cousin Mike had 2 Hydra pieces and a Dragoon piece. I had 2 Dragoon peices and a Hydra peice, we hit each other. Both the peices we needed dropped from the other person, so we both Grabbed our peices at the same time and the screen split in two ans both Vehicles assembled SIMULTANEOUSLY!! It was the most epic moment of my time with air ride. :DDD

I feel like they should have made it where when you get both the Dragoon and the Hydra in the same round, it makes the Hydragoon. Requires half the amount of charge is 1.5x speed of Dragoon, and can glide just as well as the dragoon. (or half)

I think they should scrap the top ride and normal mode (or at least just make them extras or something) and focus more on city trial. Let's admit it, CT was the best part of the game, lol. Maybe make several different CT maps, or better yet, play several different mini games at the end of a round. I dunno, this game just needs a sequel.

***** Marathon mode: You have to go to city trial for 3-5 minutes, do an event, and go back into city trial for 2-3 minutes. If you die in the event, you don't respawn back in CT. Game's over when one person is left.

I know this is an old post, and someone may have mentioned already... though if you still play this, you wouldn't have gotten hydra by picking up the last piece; they fuse together into a single god-like star (in terms of stats) and the skin is simply whichever one of them you'd completed first. It would have stayed Dragoon and kept the stats of both. -edit Sorry, it's been a while, so I got it mixed up. if you'd have gotten hydra first, it would have turned to dragoon with the stats of both. The second one you complete is the actual skin you get, not the first; my bad.
