my great aunt is still using a heritage 2 and i have recently purchased a sentria 2 model and absolutely hands down the best vacuum cleaner i have ever used Kirby you have me sold and its true because it runs in my family great job guys and i cant wait to see what you guys have to offer in the future!!!

The "Heritage 84" was a special edition model of the Heritage 1HD sold only between January and September 1984. It had special decals on the rug nozzle belt lifter and the bag cap reading such, as well as special hubcaps reading "KK84."

In original production, the HII had the same nozzle casting as used for the first Heritage, which ran from the fall of 1984 through the spring of 1985. Then, the nozzle casting was changed to reduce weight (the overall bumper length was reduced, too). In the spring of 1986 the brush roll was changed to add a magnet to the white cap end (facing the toe-touch control mechanism) and a brush roll performance indicator light was added to the nozzle casting.

John, that carpet height setting you mention is called "Micro-Matic" and it was a Vernier-type adjustment useful if the lowest standard position isn't low enough for a given surface. It was originally introduced on the ComVac CVD1600.

Nice thing about the Heritage II mini-emptor is that it can be used to convert older Kirby models as old as the model 514 to use disposable paper bags.

@kirbyvacuumcompany Noah Covert is correct: this cleaner and others in the Heritage/Legend series continued to offer the shake-out bag (also called "reusable bag" or "pocket bag") as an option. It was even made mention of in the Heritage, Heritage II (Legend) and Legend II instruction books. Most buyers opted for the standard disposable bag system. I should also add that the 13" nozzle option was also carried over from the Heritage I (1HD).

I still have my heritage from 1988 it runs well the best vacuum I have bought it is still strong and few repairs I keep it clean and it is maintained so it is always ready 👍

You may be thinking of the Tradition. When it was introduced in 1979, it was available with the option to use disposable bags or to use the shake out option. Models after the Tradition all use disposable bags.

Yes. Actually, there has been the shake-out bag system on all pre-1990 Kirby models from the Tradition through the Legend II. It is mentioned in the instruction book. They weren't optioned very much after the Heritage went on sale in late 1981. Nor was the 13" nozzle, which was desirable for use in cleaning tighter spaces; this was only the second time (and last) since 1970 that such an option was available, from Heritage sales mid-1982 through the Legend II.

I just received a free Heritage II because of a broken plastic bag fill tube. I think the previous owner thought it was non repairable but his ignorance is my gain. Anyway, trying to figure out which bag to use. The nozzle that fits into the bag is round with 2 very slight notches in it.

i bought a kirby herttiage 2 at my local goodwill just like this one mine has a red light that comes on when i start the machine the nozzel didnt come with a green light on it showin the performance of the brush roll etc how ever the machine runs pretty good

(continued) With the fall 1987 updating of this model to the Heritage II Legend, changes to both the brush roll and the outer cloth bag were made. The model was updated to the Legend II in January 1989 with an all new maroon trim color. The brush roll was improved for the third and final time before the Generation 3 replaced this model in the spring of 1990.

You guys may have seen on Ebay that someone has a very large stash of NEW in the box Heritage IIs for extremely reasonable prices. I couldn't resist and bought one. Was there a balance problem with this model? I ask because when I adjust the toe control as instructed for my carpet height, the Heritage II wants to lift off the carpet when pulling back. If I go down one notch, the machine is way too heavy to push comfortably and I suppose I'm decreasing belt life. What gives here?

my G6 has that light indicates the brush-roll is tunring, my heritage I does not. i think its kind of a pointless feature because if you have a good ear you can hear if the brush-roll is turning and if it is slipping it is noticeable. in my opinion one of the biggest improvements in the heritage I vs. the heritage II is the smaller nozzle with more concentrated suction. some rare heritage I machines were sold with a smaller nozzle, i think it was from a sanitronic mine just has the standard

That Is Kirby Heritage 2 It Has Mini Emptor. That Is Before Micron Magic Filtration Bags. The Generation 3 Bags Does Work On Heritage 2 And Legend 2. My Ultimate G Diamond Edition Has Micron Magic Hepa Filtration Bags. I Really Like It Alot.

The Heritage 2 is probably the best pre-G3 units. Unlike say a Dual Sanatronic 80, these can easily take Micron Magic bags and use most of the modern attachments.

Hi Akinde5. The Heritage II model used paper bags when it was produced. Since then, Kirby has developed Micron Magic HEPA filter bags. You should be able to use the twist-style filter bags with the Heritage II model.
