Davidoff Year of the Dragon: ASMR First Smoke | Kirby Allison

🐉 In today's video, I smoke the 2024 Davidoff Year of the Dragon Limited Edition Zodiac cigar for the first time! Enjoyed in the tranquility of my office with a glass of Lagavulin 16 year old scotch whiskey.
The 2024 Davidoff Year of the Dragon Double Corona, the latest addition to Davidoff's limited edition zodiac series. Since 2012, Davidoff has been releasing a yearly zodiac-themed cigar, and these have quickly become collector's items. The zodiac animal for each year not only influences the packaging but also the design of the cigar itself, allowing Davidoff to showcase both creativity and innovation in their cigar design.
⚠️ Note: the blue highlights on the close-up camera was due to an incorrect setting that allowed the focus peaking to output to the external recording monitor. Please forgive this technical oversight. Unfortunately, there was no way to fix this without re recording the entire piece.

If you like ice in your whiskey, I would humbly recommend you try a blend not a malt. As your palate is seeking refreshment because of the cigar, even try something along the lines of a scotch & dry.

I totally avoid ice when drinking single malt. Ice condenses the primary flavors. I few drops of water and that's it!

Latest iterations of Lagavulin 16 are so bad, that you need ice. I have a bottle from 2018 and a bottle from 2021. 2018 is absolute delight. 2021 is a liquid disappointment.

When smoking you don’t want a palate cleanser you want something that matches the cigar to possibly get more out of the experience. Not saying a blend is bad for a cigar but the davidoff year of the dragon I heard is medium bodied so something along those lines would go well.

Lovely episode, although I do not personally like Peated Scotches like Lagavulin, with Cigars. I find those two palates step on each other a bit. I would prefer an un-peated Sherry Cask expression like Arran or Glenfarclas. Or even the Balvenie Caribbean Cask you like. And that's a lovely table. Please use a coaster. Cheers.

Kirby, I wouldn’t ice that Lag, but to each their own. I love watching you smoke cigars with the Armenian boys, because it takes time and Eddie’s pace is so chill. I can also see when Edward isn’t with you, you torch the poor stick, You actually gave me anxiety rushing through that delicious stick. That’s part of the challenge of shooting it on camera, I guess. Hi Kirby. Delightful video as always! But I just noticed a small thing. On every frame shot from your right side angle, you can see a laser-like blue light blinking on you. This is a focus-setting (basically visualising where the camera is focusing, without guessing from the bokeh) that is shown on their external monitors (not recorded, obviously) but I guess they messed up sth and there is no way to remove it, without rerecording the entire video! It will probably never happen again. This video is perfection. ASMR with no music. True old school relaxation, gentleman style... Good Sir, have you tried your whisky with one teaspoon of water instead(for 43%) and no water for 40%! No right or wrong btw, it's all about enjoyment. With Whisky, different compounds get released the more water is mixed with the whisky, so on the rocks could be a fascinating way to get a varied flavor over time. When I first discovered your YT channel, at first it kind of reminded me of an idea for an old Saturday Night Live skit (Back when SNL was actually worth watching.). However, I really enjoy your videos, being a cigar smoker, myself. Liked your video discussing Ian Fleming. I actually studied him in one course I had while completing a B.A. degree in Intelligence Studies. He was basically an operational planner, with some wild ideas for missions, hence you see the transition from that to his Bond novels. And yeah, he was a drinker. And yeah, a properly substituted Vesper (to match the original proofs of the gin and vodka) will make you higher than a kite. I recommend taking the "three measures gin, one measure vodka..." recipe, shaking it, then splitting the drink with another person. - CPT, USAR, MI, RET

As a long time scotch/bourbon lover….. enough with criticizing the man’s choice and style of drink. There is absolutely no right of wrong way to enjoy it. Great whiskey can always be enjoyed neat, on a rock, or on the rocks. As long as you enjoy the experience it’s your experience. If he asks for your advice, then share it. Otherwise, have if your way and let him have it his.
