@@josejavierjorge3994 From what i've seen searching around the internet, a lot of those who criticize SAO never actually saw Alicization, and they don't know this season actually exist. The common sentence they use is like: "season one was ok, season two was trash because of incest", but when you ask these people about Alicization they will respond to you: "what the hell is that?" I really don't know why this situation came to be in the first place. I've really seen a LOT of videos (and reaction too) about SAO, and i've seen too much comments made by people that it seems like they saw and know only the things before Alicization.

Alice in Wonderland refers to an old book called "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", telling the stories of a girl called Alice going through a bizarre world after following a rabbit inside a rabbit hole, I think that by anime, you might be referring to Deadman Wonderland. As a side note, the company's name mentioned later on in the episode, "Through the Looking-Glass" is also a reference to the book's sequel, "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There". There are quite a lot of animes, mangas, novels, and other stuff that references the Alice in Wonderland Series, too, whether it's the whole story or particular characters present in the original books.

One of the best couple of arcs/seasons of anime out there. Idgaf what the haters day. Alicization is a masterpiece. Animation and sound quality. Directing. Storyboarding. Voice acting. Sound effects. Sound effects. Sound effects. Yes, i typed that 3 times. The OST is actual murder, it's so badass. The original storytelling was fire af, and thw studio NAILED IT. The emotional impacts. Alicization is just that fucking good. Also, 19:30 How tf Asuna look so amazing in post-apocalyptic battle gear?!?

Kirito asking Asuna to come with him is essentially a proposal. This may not seem all that extraordinary considering they got engaged in Ordinal Scale but it's important to note that Ordinal Scale actually came out after Alicization was published. The events of Ordinal Scale were retconned into the story to take place between season 2 and season 3. This makes Kirito's invite and not wanting to live without her in his life in this scene the original proposal.

I don't think any of them is ready to be engaged (I'm talking about the responsibility part) not to mention Kirito isn't legally allowed to. I mean in every volume that was released after Alicization they introduced Asuna as 'Kirito's girlfriend' so yeah thay aren't engaged

@@wishhh9960A promise to spend the rest of their lives together is precisely what an engagement proposal is. Especially when it is accompanied by a ring being put on the ring finger of the left hand. So what took place in S3 ep 1 is more of a pseudo proposal as it was more a declaration on Kirito's part that he wants Asuna forever in his life. It was still the closest we got to an actual proposal in the real world after the proposal within SAO at the time (before the movie was a thing). Remember that the movie is an anime original and is not an adaptation of the light novels. The story was also written after Alicization and not before. So in addition to differences in language and culture between Japanese and English, it made sense for Asuna to be introduced as Kirito's GF. The subs/dubs are also more than just translations, they are localizations. So you can't simply go off of the English that was used. You need to go off the Japanese that was used and understand the choice in language that Japanese people use. Kirito could also get legally married to Asuna with parental/legal guardian consent. Though it is likely that they would simply remain engaged until Kirito becomes a legal adult.

@@Anguish88 no the last volume of Alicization was released in 2016 while the movie is for 2017. Like in vol 19 (it's for moon cradle and hasn't been animated yet) in author note, Kawahara wrote about how ordinal scale is going to be out. So yeah in Alicization Asuna isn't supposed to have that ring and you can see in pictures in novels that she doesn't but because in anime adaptation Ordinal scale came before Alicization, you see the ring on her finger in different scenes

Briefly - Kirito managed to say "Sorry, Asuna", an ambulance arrived, Asuna was able to remember the name of the drug, the paramedics were very surprised, but despite this info and intensive CPR Asuna could only watch as the pulse on her monitor reached zero and stayed there. Thus, the scene left less uncertainty about Kirito's condition, which could confuse the viewer more in the near future, but from now on this scene is key in the development of Asuna's personality for the entire subsequent story. From now on, she will always be in her "The Lightning Flash" mode, almost extinguished after returning to reality, and in her mind she will be very similar to Mikasa Ackerman. Although the screenwriters have long avoided this darker image of her, the consequences will become inevitable for demonstration in the next big storyarc.

Alice in wonderland is not "just" the 2010 movie, there have been several works based on the 1865 named exactly that, like the movies Alice in Wonderland (1903), Alice in Wonderland (1915), Alice in Wonderland (1931), Alice in Wonderland (1933), Alice in Wonderland (1949), and especially Alice in Wonderland (1951), the famous Disney movie that people usually refer to when they're talking about Alice in Wonderland, at least before the 2010 movie. I know its old af but it's a timeless classic like most old disney movies.

Alice in Wonderland, and it's sequel Through the Looking Glass are children's books from the 1860s. The first book was also a Disney movie. If you've ever heard references to the Mad Hatter, he's from those books. Also, at some point you should watch the spin-off GGO, it's pretty short and not directly connected to SAO other than taking place in the same Universe, but it's pretty fun.

@@lorenzrafaelpitogo6433 it's mostly better written. SAO was a very bad book that abused monologues and exposition, this led to a very shallow adaptation to the anime. Unital Ring solves a lot of this: character identity, development and world building is done by character actions. As far as i read, the story takes it's time. Two parallel stories that at some point will collide, with lots of mistery. Kawahara is taking his time with this one. I can see it being way longer than Alicization(11 books). I'm really hoping that with Volume 27 we can start having some answers because so far(5 books in), theories is all we can manage to do.

​​@@stampoulisrafael5262 well, you don't need for it to be over, tbf. Season 3 adapts books 9-14 in 24 episodes and Season 4 adapts books 15-18. They still could do something with Moon Cradle(books 19-20, some sort of epilogue to WoU). Regarding Unital Ring's anime, right now you have books 21, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27(book 22 is a compilation of short stories) so it's enough to do Season 5. I wouldn't be surprise if we have an announcement in 2024 regarding Unital Ring's anime airing in early 2025. The only problem with this is that Season 6 would come out as early as 2029. If you don't like reading, i think i saw somewhere they were about to do a manga adaptation of Unital Ring.

Alice in Wonderland is one of the most well known fairy tales in history, that's why you've heard the name before. As with many others, Disney made a movie of it (which is in Kingdom Hearts of course) there's also a few live actions and series based on it, and a ton of different works of fiction inspired by it, from other western books to anime, it's a huge name. The main thing the story is known for is being extremely bizarre and surrealistic, and the entire premise is of a sort of dream world that is completely at odds and yet undistinguishable from reality, which is why it was used as the inspiration for the Underworld here in-universe.

This very beginning part of Alicization with Kirito, Eugeo and Alice as kids was probably one of my favorite sections in the series. There's just something so interesting and unique about how alien and mysterious it all is, and it's just so engaging to go along with it looking for answers to the million of questions that just pop into your head out of nowhere. I read it through the novel, and while the anime was very faithful for this section, I feel like the feeling was intensified when I only had words and pages instead of a full animated video. Still, the anime very much did justice to it. I have quite a few gripes with the adaptation of this arc specifically, but definitely not for this part that's for sure.
