Dude, I may have watch like 15-20 reactions to SAO, and rewatched the series on my own like 5 times. All of "those" moments still hit every time. Wait...it was two years between this and War of Underworld?!?!? Wtf.... I started SAO and binged ALL of it within a week or two, up to the point where I was waiting to watch the last three dubbed episodes to air. I feel lucky I only had to wait 3 weeks to finish SAO. Damn.

Gotta admit, this scene broke me the first time I watched Alicization. Since Eugeo was one of the main characters that was being built up throughout this season and since we still had another 24 episodes to go I didn't even consider the chance of him dying there. For me, this surprise magnified emotion carried by the scene tenfold. All in all one of the greatest scenes in this entire anime, they made us witness Eugeo grow, basically from zero to hero, and when we bonded with him and his character development peaked he sacrifices himself as a result of the path we saw him go through. It was amazingly set up, very sorrowful and yet very satisfying at the same time.

Always the grand debate, which death hit harder: Yuuki’s; or Eugeo’s. For a long time I would have said Yuuki’s, but the more I’m into this series I now lean more toward Eugeo.

Eugeo's death and it's not even close. Yuki is a side character that we only knew for a little bit but Eugeo was the goat 😭

Eugeo's passing is epic sad face, but he got like 15-18 years of life, on his feet and swinging an axe or a sword. Yuuki's ENTIRE life was pain, fear, loss, and the inevitability of a young death. She ends up having to move on after finding real love and life outside of her VR world. I dig Eugeo, but I believe Yuuki had far more potential to better other lives and to live a vivid, vivacious, adventurous existence. Eugeo's goal was to find and restore Alice and go home. Beautiful, but not mega ambitious. Say Yuuki got miracle cured. She could very well have been an major ingredient in the new world of VR society. That, to me, is what silently flows through my mind when she dies on screen. Eugeo got a Hero's death, but his life has impact for Kirito and Alice mainly, besides his part in the coup. Sorry, long winded, but I have found myself contemplating these character's possibilities a lot since I first watched SAO.

When it was one beautiful sword, it was only suspicious, but with the introduction of the second, black, it became the final verdict. And since the twist with the broken sword was already in the first season/volume, it would be bad to repeat it, so the author could not disguise this outcome much.
