I would of liked to of heard a solo album from Kirk back before his mother (Lars) and father ( James) clipped his wings. That off the cuff unforgiven solo is still one of the greatest solos caught on tape. The wah wah meme is so stale. But the success has set in now the drive isn't there. But after the black album success killed his drive. It's like we made it now. Why bother I'm set for life. I can understand too

I played guitar 12 hours a day at 17 because of Metallica like thousands did but life gets in the way Girlfrinds and bullshit normal work life. Didn't play for a few years we can't all be Steve Vai who lives breaths guitar 24/7 as much as we would love to.

Kirk knows his place. They don't look at him as anything more than a hired gun. In 'Some Kind of Monster' James goes to his house and you can tell it's his first time ever being there. Eyes are darting all over the room.

Also, you can't just assume that was James' first time at his own bandmate's house only because of a 1 minute clip of him looking at the rather interesting things that Kirk has in his house. You're just saying that because it fits your narrative.
