The ridiculous super conferences are the problem. Having 15 to 20 teams per conference causes unbalanced scheduling, which creates the "Indiana effect." I think the NCAA should put the hammer down and say that you can't have more than 10 teams per conference. Either that, or set a hard limit of 3 teams from a single conference in the playoff. That would encourage the deconstruction of the super conferences.

I know. If they really cared about putting in the best teams like they said they do, they would have put in Miami and Bama over Indiana and SMU. I think after these embarrassing blowouts, and FSU and UGA getting snubbed last year, the CFP will change the way they pick their teams

I would love to see conferences go to 9 teams, be regional, and play ALL the teams in for you conference. You get 8 conference games, you get 3 non-conference games. No conference championship games. The winner of each conference gets into the 12 team playoff, yes even the G5, this would help bring back parity into college football. AND the way the portal works is awful. I’m not against transfers, but it’s free agency every year for every player is ridiculous.

"Best" to the committee means the teams that will bring the "best" in stadium attendances and have the "best" tv viewerships. If Alabama is close next year, they will get in over anyone else.

2 schools of thought here, if people want to have a championship that's baseless on wins and losses, just call it the ESPN championship. That way they can have it their way and their championship only means they are the best team of all the biggest tv draw teams. Second, there should be a 6 team CFP with 2 wild card teams and each of the power 4 champions.

Why not use the standard “playoff eligible” and to be playoff, you have to win your conference and actual measurable criteria. Best and deserving is purely subjective. Which sucks.

At his point why not copy college basketball and have a 68 team playoff tournament... Someone is always going to argue for that 69th team on the bubble that "should have gotten in." My new philosophy: only the teams that earn a 1st place vote in the AP coaches poll play each other for the real true overall #1.
