Sorry, I don’t believe a word that comes out of Herbie’s mouth. I’m a complete Buckeye fan and have always supported the team, win or lose. I’ve never wanted Ryan Day fired because he’s been a great overall coach, and a great mentor to his players. It’s obvious he cares about his players, and they love him. All that being said, Herbie rubs me the wrong way and seems to insult all fans. In trying to be “unbiased”, he’s spoken against the Buckeyes a majority of the times. Why can’t he be like Desmond Howard who loves his TTUN team and supports them no matter what? I respect Howard for being true to his alma mater, and despise Herbie for forgetting where he came from in his bid for money and clicks.
@SatansShartКүн бұрын
I agree other than wishing he be more like Des Howard. Des is waaay too much of a homer, even defended the ttun’s illegal cheating scheme. Herbie on the other hand tries so hard not to be biased that he pumps his brakes about praising OSU too much (which I respect), but then hyper focuses on negative things. I don’t care if he mentions the over the top fans, but he doesn’t need to do 5min editorials on it during broadcasts every other day
@tscott9729Күн бұрын
@@SatansShartIn trying to be unbiased, he’s become biased AGAINST the Buckeyes every time, especially if the opponent happens to be an SEC team. That’s why the majority of Buckeye fans can’t stand Herbie. He’s not unbiased, he’s supporting whoever pays him.

I disagree, mostly, with Kurt’s first explanation of the Michigan loss. That is a small portion of the reason they lost. The play calling is the massive contributor to that defeat. Day always wanted to be the most physical team in the NCAA. He voiced it a dozen times. His roster is a stable of studs. Ferrari. Lamborghini. Michigan is a bull dozer. He called the game that did not play to the strength of HIS roster, PERIOD!

Let me first say I am a lifelong Buckeye fan and love Coach Day. However, anyone can recognize that the 2024 Michigan game was pure coaching malpractice, probably by Ryan Day trying to prove that the Buckeyes could "win tough". I don't believe it was a Chip Kelly game plan. I was at that game and it was the worst sporting spectacle I've ever been involved in. It was profoundly painful to all who love the Buckeyes, and the fans made that known. It took the debacle of that game and the public reaction to shock Coach Day back to reality. And the reality is that this team is an offensive juggernaut if they spread the field and pass first to set up the run. It also galvanized the staff and players to salvage the season with a successful playoff performance. I credit Coach Day, the rest of the coaching staff, and the team leaders for their positive reaction to the Michigan debacle and the subsequent playoff run. People forget that Day is a young head coach who is still learning the job and developing himself, and they need to appreciate what a great program he has built. Now that these lessons have been learned and Ohio State is in official Death Star mode, let's blast our way through the last two games and secure that Natty! GO BUCKS!!!

great insights from Kirk. i also believe Jim Knowles has changed his scheme and now is letting the guys play football, more free. and his alignment using 4 men in a box with Caleb in the center, has worked wonders too. we now can stop the run and also cover the middle of the field in the pass. so its all of it and i hope it continues. we will go as far as the O line can give Will time and keep him clean to use our excellent weapons in the great receiver corps and especially Jeramiah and Emeka. because then the tremendous run game we have can work too which creates the perfect team. we could win alone i believe just passing to emeka and jeramiah 35 times, if push came to shove, but we need Will to have good games and that requires great blocking from that offensive front.

The fact that people PAY herbie for his opinion on Ohio State is diabolical. He speaks on the “fringe fanbase” while at the same time claiming he doesn’t read comments on twitter. Well, Kirk, how on earth would you know about the “fringe fanbase” if you’re not on the very platform where they’re the loudest? This would be akin to a Judge making a ruling without ever hearing the arguments. Incredible logic here.

I'm a lifetime OSU fan in Columbus. I coached on the OSU Club team staff a few years. Kirk is correct that there is a small group of vocal fans that are "NUTS". Most of the fans are die-hard Buckeye supporters. Unfortunately the nuts give the rest of the sane fan base a bad rap.

There are those fans for sure… in all major fanbases. But Kirk would do well to quit spending so much time on it, and not talk about the fanbase with such a broad brush. 15-20% lunatic fringe?
