Cheers to another Fifer, I guess it would have been the Raith ballroom that my mum and dad met at in the 50s, Mum was from Kirkcaldy and dad was from Coaltown of Balgonie, just up the road, we moved to Australia back in 1970 and settled in Melbourne. Dad left for the same reason, wanted a better future, he worked in the pits for a short time and then worked at Tullis Russell in Glenrothes before moving here. I am 61 and have been back a couple of times, was meant to over in 2020 but a certain thing happened that put an end to that so here’s hoping 2022 I can get back then. Cheers mate, Perth definitely has a better winter than Melbourne. 😂😂👍👍👍

Many changes over the last six months or so. Many building demolished. The most upsetting one is that of the historical post office building. Set on fire, 3rd time successful, for a better word,😢. Now completely demolished. Even the Royal frontage could not be saved . The Postings, that included Tesco at one point is completely demolished. On the high street the ABC cinema is still not developed and remains empty. The old Woolworths building has also just been closed down. The old Coop building area has been transformed with the development of flat dwellings. October /November 2023 seen the demolishing of the last hemp factory. Continuing up St.Clair Street, further demolishing, at this moment i cant recall the original name of the car garage and showroom, that years later was occupied by Kingsway Entertainment. This area has almost completed its redevelopment of small industry units. Whilst we are here, those who may find of interest that the ice rink is still on the go. Further along ,the once open space at the Randolph onto the Standing Stane there is a massive housing (some already occupied ) construction with over one thousand homes plus proposed commercial units. To conclude, to those who knew Kirkcaldy, it disna smell🤭 the same !?!.🤔😂

The name is evocative but the modern buildings are horrible. It seems the architects only have accwess to rulers. How poor!

Electrician here and we prefer function over form. Less complicated buildings mean cheaper maintenance and ease of use. We don't want stupid buildings with 47-degree angles. It is all nonsense.
