The Accord's exterior styling sucks. It just looks boring. Plus two of the biggest selling points for prevous generation (manual transmission and the K20C 2.0t) are dead. Not to mention, since the 2016 model year, the Civic has been a pretty large car. It's big enough to comfortably fit 4 6 foot+ aldults, plenty for most buyers. Combine that with the better styling and lower price of the Civic, and I bet a lot of potential Accord buyers are opting for the Civic instead. Especially now that the Civic hybrid is available. I'm a 2018 Accord owner, but if I were to buy another Honda now, it would certainly be a Civic. The Accord really doesn't have much going for it now, and the differences are more cons than pros unless you really need the massive rear seat space the Accord offers.

I bought a 2018 Civic Hatchback, LX, 6 speed, 1.5 turbo brand new in Nov of 2017, just turned over 100k miles last week - it's a great car! I stealth camp in my hatchback when I go to Florida on vacation - there's that much room in my Civic Hatchback. I slide the passenger front seat forward and put in a wooden tray behind that seat then I can completely sleep in the back. It's fun to drive and I get 40 mpg at 70 mph on the highway, with tons of room. I'll probably keep it for a long time. Some guy on You Tube made of vid of his Civic with the 1.5 turbo showing he has 700k miles on his engine, no major problems! And guess what? I bought my Civic for $19, 200 from the dealer, out the door! I like it better than my old Z cars from the 1970's, in many ways, so look for a 10th gen Civic - great cars.

Compared to the Camry, the Accord used to attract a slightly younger and performance-oriented demographic. For this generation, however, the Accord just looks too bland (old?) and without the 2.0t engine, the performance is just ok. As it is, the Accord lacks any special features to stand apart from the Camry.

The Accord is being stomped by the Camry. The new Camry is so much nicer looking. Also, the pricing of the Accord is too high. The Civic grew in size, and because they are so close in size, but is cheaper, smart consumers will just buy the Civic. Sure wish we could have an Accord wagon again.

I also still average 35-38 MPG on the highway so it was an easy no for me.

I don't mind the exterior styling, as I tend to like conservative and understated, but two of the reasons I bought a Mazda 3 were a conventional automatic transmission and available AWD. Honda could've added AWD and made the Accord a world beater, but instead they killed the 2 liter turbo and 10 speed auto, two of the most compelling things about the Accord!
@katazack3 ай бұрын
No sedan automatic needs more than six speeds. The other gears are all overdrive to boost mpg a fraction. I already had to service my wife's RDX tranny at less than 50k miles. My Camry's 8 spd tranny is constantly hunting gears. Never had these issues with Mazda and Hyundai six speeds.

Honda isn’t helping the Accord by cutting the trims with any sportiness. The Civic is also now larger than the Accord from 15 years ago. It's a very niche buyer who wants a sedan as large as the new Accord. The TLX sells almost entirely on aesthetics, so it reaches a point where everyone who wants one already has one. It's a full-size on the outside and a compact on the inside. I like every vehicle Honda makes, but it's hard to recommend their sedans other than the ITS or a low trim Civic. Maybe the Prelude will breathe some life back in next year.

As a former 9.5 gen 6-6 Accord coupe owner. The current gen isn't selling because it's exterior is......... An acquired taste and for the better part of 20 years now, the top trim level Accords while not performance cars, always punched above their weight in that realm. No, they wernt Sportscar fast, but they had above avg performance. This gen... Very little performance to be had. Sure it has an impressive hybrid system, but it misses the mark in terms of what the Accords recent history had become. Roll that into higher interest rates, and MSRPs and well... Not a shock that it's not selling.
