Actually, as l see it it, it was a nice "sporty car". In '78 l was driving a Celica GT hatch w/ stick. It was a fun drive for the flatlands of SoFla, but not what you'd use in the mountains. But l got sucked in by Toyota marketers, touting the 79 Supra as the "Powerful Pleasure". It was a huge disappointment. It was a slightly upgraded Celica GT, mostly with fancier interior finishes, power moon roof, but little or no perceptible power boost (eaten by increased weight?). I traded it a year later for a '80 Z28 Camaro, which wasn't super fast, but a lot faster than that overpriced Supra. In sum, Hail to the Celica GT!

Wish someone would just make a screamer of a NA small displacement 4 cylinder sports car. Like 9k rpm 200-250hp 1.8L with high compression like 14:1. That's what we want people, screw the turbo lag.

How in the hell can Honda look at all these nameplate revivals from their competition and think for one second that the pathetic Honda prelude proposal could ever stand a chance against these cars. It’s not even the fact that it’s a hybrid. It’s the fact that they think that a 7 hp increase in a performance car from 23 years ago is an acceptable standard of increased modern performance, or in any way competitive at this point, I’d rather they just shelf the revival altogether, if the car isn’t going to maintain its place as a beacon, a performance and technology, and status as the best handling front wheel, drive car on the planet.

Definitely more Solara vibes, if that’s the first thing that comes to mind.

Toyota mind as well just make the 86 an optional convertible rather than make a whole new car to compete with the Miata. The only problem with the Miata for some is just the livability because of the size.

What a lot of people don't know is that Ford and Toyota co-developed hybrids and share patents. Ford is not being "allowed" to use Toytoa tech. Toyota seldom does anything by itself.

The GR Corolla is $50,000-$60,000 Cdn , this would start probably around $65,000. That would put it in GR Supra range, unless they discontinue the Supra . Also I would like to see a FWD version for us poor middle class people just like the 4th and 5th generations when I started wrenching for Toyota.

The first generation Celica is my absolute dream car. A bumper switch with round headlamps like the Rocket Bunny Silvias would absolutely transform these into something similar to a modern Camaro or a Challenger.

The MR2 would probably weigh at least 500 pounds lighter than this, so the 1.6L 3-cylinder is not really a downgrade in performance

I remember when I just got into crypto back in 2019 but later in 2020 I ended up selling it because I was dumb and I didn't understand it. I studied and learned and now I know how it works. Got back into crypto early in 2023 with 10k and I'm up with 128k in a short period of time.

This is my guess. Celica 2.0 4cyl. Turbo - I think this car shares an engine with GR Supra 2.0 which has a 2.0L Twin-scroll single turbo, DOHC 16-velve inline 4cyl, has 255hp @ 5000 rpm. If they have 375hp/341 Torque, Supra sales numbers definitely go down.

While this is good news, still looking forward to the MR2 more, my MR2 Spyder is getting long on the tooth. Also hope the MR2 is roomy enough for someone that is 6'4, the Spyder has so much room compared to other cars in the segment.

My favorite car is the Celica Supra. What’s interesting is Toyota can make a business case for all these sports cars and companies like ford can’t even offer 1 sedan. The difference between a car company and a company that wants to be a tech company (but doesn’t know how).
