The designer has clear preferences in textiles, and they are gorgeous! They certainly love vertical stripes (which sometimes mirror the stair rails) as well as octagonal motifs. They also have a preference for dark blue and deep orange. And they have the touch for putting them in the right places at the right scale.

I must say that one of my most favorite details of this lovely cottage is the use of authentic, organic fabrics on all furniture. No plasticky polyester or other nasty inorganic materials. All of the furnishings look original, eclectic and decidedly unlike cookie-cutter designs so commonly seen in common furniture stores. It is truly a feast for the eyes and the senses. Dear Kirsten and Joerg, What an absolutely gorgeous old house, so full of character, cosiness and beauty, I loved everything about it, especially the Aga, the creaky floorboards, the beautiful old mahogany furniture, the fireplaces and that gorgeous 1750 spice cabinet - they made things to last back then, obviously!😂 Storm Darragh was much worse than expected throughout the night in Dublin, we had it from around 1.30am to 7am, before it hit the U.K., it ripped my bedroom window wide open and kept crashing the window shut and opening it again, anytime I closed the window the gales just kept ripping the window open again, so I got up, made tea, and sat in the sittingroom all night. You did the absolutely correct thing staying indoors, nothing else you could do. Anyway, thank God it's over. Lots of love to both of you, and to all your lovely subscribers.❤

I love this house. While it is large, the rooms are all warm and inviting. That kitchen is magnificent with the high, timbered ceiling. The tilework in the bathroom is breathtaking. Glad you made it through the storm!

Please don’t ever worry about not taking us out and about. This actually turned out to be one of my favorite videos of yours, and I’ve watched them all. I think we all love that feeling of having to “make do” with what’s on hand in a storm situation, putting together a simple supper, wearing our cozy pajamas and reading by a fire. And what a beautiful home! The extended interior tour was so enjoyable, and that tiled bathroom took my breath away. Your traditional German home cooking is certainly one of the great highlights of your videos, and I think we all get a kick out of Joerg’s sweet / snack tooth 😊. We all just adore you both.

What a (huge) charming place and the stormy weather added a bit of drama. I fondly remember my mother making Christmas dinner in Canada. She would be grumpy while making it, but when she was done and we all sat down at table we were very happy. I continued making her potato salad and both family and friends loved it. Thanks for reminding me of those congenial times.
