Hey, let's bring adoption into play. In the US, it is legal for two adult cousins(doesn't matter if they're 1st,2nd,3rd, etc.) to get married if one of them is adopted with no genetic connections. In this case, it's really tricky and trippy. No matter the age, bringing a new adoptee into a new family is challenging for everyone and it takes years to solidify those new family bonds. I believe it would be devastating for this scenario to take place because it definitely could break those family bonds and give everyone a reason to judge those two people. That's not fair to both people, especially the adoptee. The adoptee is taking a big risk breaking those precious bonds that they had to learn to form for years and find their placement in the family. It definitely would cause a ton of resentment and drama that tests family morals and values. It feels too risky and heartbreaking to endure in order to achieve happily ever after. I couldn't imagine how the two people in the video felt when they were actually contemplating how to navigate through their situation and they're actually related! It is only incestuous if it is with a member of your immediate family (parent or sibling). With regards to the birth defects the children of an unrelated have 2% chance of genetic illness while children of cousins have 4% chance. There are many people out there born from a cousin union and are absolutely fine genetically. The birth defects are more likely to occur if their kids have children with their cousins and so on and so forth. Not really that disgusting if you think about the science of it. Also we are all related if you go back far enough, and if everyone goes back in their family tree I guarantee there was a cousin pairing somewhere along the line.
