I am in love with a house I first saw 30 years ago... It came empty about 10 years ago, and has decayed more and more. I have no hope - barring a miracle - of ever buying it and restoring it and living in it, but I can't stop dreaming about it. Back to watching Kirstie live my dream a few years after first stumbling on this series. I watch anything with Kirstie in it (add Phil and I'm in KZbin heaven). I grew up in a family that bought a few run-down properties and fixed them up for rental as apartments. It's in the blood. I've got the practical aspect down (walls, plumbing, electrical, carpentry). But for making a house a home, Kirstie is the pal I'd want to go around with as the house spoke to me and told me what it wants and needs and how it wants to look. I do believe that houses speak to you, they tell you their style, the right arrangement of furniture, the colors. Kirstie totally gets that, and she has the taste and contacts and verve to get it done beautifully. How I long to unleash my inner Kirstie on that house of my dreams... Why do the wrong people always have the money in this world?

I love the idea.......unfortunately many of us cannot afford to pay artisan craftsmen to do fixtures and fittings, hence the reason for buying run-of-the-mill from the High Street Kirsty !
@acmulhern4 ай бұрын
Charity shops and garage sales have very cheap furniture and decor. And you can learn to make many of the crafts yourself. Nowadays, we have youtube that you can learn any skill from. So there really is no excuse. High-street also isn't that cheap.
@JVSwailesBoudicca4 ай бұрын
@@acmulhern You are entirely right in what you say. I once made my own clothes & I did basketwork, spinning & weaving. As I am an artist I painted household things too but I simply do not have the time these days to go to sales or searching round brocantes for bargains or make myself items due to being a full time carer . I wish I could do all those things again.

Have I got this right? She shops, hires people to do the work? Cute program but thought she would be a lot more hands on. Upolstering furniture costs a lot more than new, so most can't afford it as much as they would want to. Same with custom curtains.

Kirstie is great in entertaining. However as I can see she’s not DIY-ing anything by herself. She’s rather hiring artisans. And giving advices on second hand purchases. So it gave me an impression she’s just house flipper. Like her parents. This house she’s decorating is rather for selling, not for her personal living. As far as I know, she lives in Notting hill, London
@Kevin-sm8pn2 жыл бұрын
I mean, you can get custom stuff and secondhand items for a house that you own. You don't have to make everything from scratch. Like I'm sure you didn't make your sofa from fabric and foam. You bought it from a store.
