I'm the rider that stays up straight! I just feel more balanced that way naturally so I end up barely folding. The elbow tip is very helpful!

Great that it’s helpful ✅staying too upright is better than throwing yourself forward as long as you are softening your rein , the elbows start the fold naturally

Me too! I need to remind myself to lean forward when jumping 😭

Thanks! I want to get into show jumping after cross country for a while and I barely release and basically just stand up. This helped.

I have very short arms and a long torso, it’s so hard for me to do a good crest release. Any tips?

Any tips for timing your two point? I understand counting strides but my horse is pretty cheeky and enjoys skipping and entire stride and taking the jump early
@frankiethetankie97323 жыл бұрын
Rise up when your horse takes off! Seeing a distance will also help you determine when to go into your 2 point- but if your horse takes out strides it may be difficult to prepare yourself 😂

Hi There this is really a good video, I do not know what the problem might be my horse is very forward going when he sees a jump. i will take him to a jump with a trot keeping rhythm then just all of a sudden 2 meters before the jump he will bolt at jump at go over. How do I slow him? leg aids hand aids nothing works. Not even halts

Easily fixed, I've had one like this. Set poles around the arena and practice every day trotting and cantering them, everyday do the poles until the horse is super chill. Then put four rails on a circle ( i have a video on this exercise on my channel) and when you can do this, then make small jumps and practise. Do it every ride as then the horse will think jumping is everyday rather than a party.

Is it why I tend to shrug my shoulders when I approach the fence? 🤔
@KirstinKellyEquestrian Жыл бұрын
Could be, It could be tension or overthinking getting a good distance, As you canter to the jump say elbows, elbows in the beat of canter, and then slide as you leave the ground to encourage your mind to be calm while listening to the canter beat and focused on getting the elbows and shoulders to work smoothly.

im good with release over the jump but when i land i pull on the horses mouth
@KirstinKellyEquestrian2 жыл бұрын
Practise lots of two point to improve core strength and then try to press both hands to the crest mid flight and think of kissing the neck to bring your body forward - ensure you look up between the horses ears though
