Great video and very helpful. I assembled my Pax 2.0 wardrobes today. I ordered a run of 50+100+50cm carcasses, 236cm tall with Reinsvoll doors. Worth mentioning the 50cm wide units now also fold in the centre like the 100cm do. The hardest part was unfolding them whilst vertical, but once the back rail was in place assembly was a breeze. The design of these is really well thought through, and the tall units feel quite sturdy. Really pleased how it turned out.

Thanks for the feedback on the new Pax . I think the multiple folds are the 75 & 100 in the shorter depth.

@craigball Did you find any video or other detailed guidance on how to install the back rail at the proper height/angle for your floor? This video and similar videos on KZbin frustratingly all seem to omit the mounting step and only show how to put together the new frame together freestanding, which is not the difficult part.

@@ciel6347 I only found this one and one more which show assembly. Not sure what you mean by back rail. The only back rail is one at the base that slides into the black clips in the corner. The only attachment to the wall is through two holes located in the top corners, and you drill into the wall. If you intend to put a timber batten on the wall to screw into, then you will have a gap behind your wardrobe.

@@craigball480 Sorry, I thought because your comment coincided with approximately 1 week after new pax frames appeared on the USA ikea website that you had purchased your frame in the USA. It appears that only the USA has a wall-mounting new pax frame.

I just built an entire closet with the old system alone - 4 units plus the corner attachment. The hardest part was attaching the back alone . I wish I waited and got this new system where the back problem is solved.

It depends on the size you're building. I purchased the 39 3/8x13 3/4x92 7/8", and while I have purchased this size before and assembled it myself, this time around it took two people and twice as long. The rail to connect at the back is the first step, and it is not an improvement. This step also does not allow for movement after it is built if you need to make slight adjustments in placing. It is also harder with the accordion back the taller and wider the unit. We had to attach a piece of trim into the stud to allow the rail to then be flush and not have the entire unit leaning backwards because it is on carpet and we have baseboards. Also the accordion back wanted to fold in the entire time we were working.

@kirstygriffiths749 In the USA the units are mounted on a metal rail across the back. The back panel has a square section cut out of the top corners that you later cover with plastic pieces. I wonder if it has something to do with each country's safety requirements for securing furniture to the wall.

@@kirstygriffiths749 Thanks! Yes it is the new Pax. However the one in Canada (and US I believe) has a metal plate thing you have to drill into the wall (and they don't provide the hardware for that 'since it depends on your wall material'). @@LittleMissHoop This new Pax is the worst thing ever! I totally hate IKEA. After this, I am never again getting anything there.Assembly of the rails, sliding doors and mirrors -or whatever finish you pick- is a total nightmare! The instructions are not clear at all -as usual- and I can't understand how they say to first hang them and then, add the mirrors! A very similar new pax frame appears to be available on Ikea's USA website but it appears to come with a wall-mounting rail. Did yours come with a rail? The rail part number in the new manuals is 10116976, 10116987, or 10117011 depending on the width of the frame. It is unclear to me if the rail is an optional anchoring mechanism for tipping prevention or is a significant structural part for the back board. If the former, I am confused why the frame can't anchor directly into the behind wall like the older pax frame designs. I am having a hard time finding a video that shows how to install the rail, which i think adds significantly increased difficulty to the installation process for a novice DIYer.

Do you think it will still be possible to cut them to make them more narrow? Meaning, with the older one, you could just cut the top, bottom and back, to the width you needed. Then, make new holes for the dowels and cam locks. Do the pieces that you said were already installed on the ends of the piece that goes along the bottom, at least come out and go back in? Or would the backing be able to be reattached, after trimming?
