They are all so helpful. And the last is so damn true. The more longer you look at your drawing, you start noticing more mistakes and details. Correcting your mistakes actually works is making artwork much better than it was before.

#7. Turn your reference photo upside down when doing your initial sketch & draw it that way. It'll force your brain to think "that line goes in this direction & this line goes that way" instead of "the mouth looks like this". Btw, love you Kirsty

Good point on making the shadows darker. As a beginner I too was guilty of doing this all the time. I simply wouldn’t go dark enough.... little did I know this makes a huge difference on the outcome of your drawings. These were all great tips by the way!! 👍

Thank you Kirsty - I'm stuck on doing trees and grass as a finish on the background of an antique car that is sitting in a field. I'm no artist but started this picture years ago after taking a class on/with colored pencils - now the years have flown and decided to finish some things up - this being one of the ufo's ! Thanks goodness I kept all the directions etc altho did have to buy another set of colored pencils.
