🤣🤣🤣🤣 On a serious note, you can always improve. Remember technique is very important. It won't help much to draw frequently, if you do the same thing every time. I know this comment is a year old... Anyway, I wish you well!!

I really do appreciate your dedication. Not to throw shade to other KZbin artist but I feel that most of them just make absurd videos just to have views & of course $. Example : I've seen someone who drew inside out and I understand that people are not going to draw good especially if they are beginners BUT she didn't even explain like what colors she use, how to blend, why she picked the colors , etc. the drawing was tiny . She just didn't put dedication and the video was very short. You explain EVERYTHING so well. You teach us how to blend, how to shade the colors, to layer first, etc. ❤️✨

I wonder if you could do a tutorial on curly hair, especially the type of hair that people of color have, really fuzzy and curly.
@psifigeek2 жыл бұрын
Let me begin by thanking you for these videos and I recommend them to any aspiring artists. Now, I am doing a mixed media drawing of some friends of mine. I did the structure, and used watercolor bricks to lay down my base layer, and a few mid tones. So i am using color pencils for my detail work and was trying to determine about the hair. Lots of browns and oranges all in her hair, which I the referne is pulled up, so using this video to learn to proceed. But the watercolor paper I used does have a texture and thus far, had to do a lot of blending to fill in the texture. ( I picked this paper based on weight).

Now I'm very confused. XD Some artists say I need to use textured paper to be able to add more layers, and you tell me I need to use smooth paper. Personally I've always liked smoother paper better, because it get's more smooth (obviously). But also, smooth paper has less tooth and you can add fewer layers. But it doesn't get a grainy look. Arrgh! I guess it's up to the artist and the style of drawing maybe? :)
@tddybear6 жыл бұрын
Syster Yster I have the same issue, augh. Have you ended up figuring anything out about it, personally? I still don't know which to go with >_
@SysterYster6 жыл бұрын
Teddy Bear in Russian {Mishka} I really don't know. So far, the best I've found is fairly thick paper, such as you can both draw and paint on, but that's still smooth. But copy paper smooth and/or thin is really bad. Apart from that... I don't know. XD
@tddybear6 жыл бұрын
Syster Yster Alright, good to know. Thank you!
@jraqn4 жыл бұрын
textured paper is good for wet media, charcoal, and pastels, while smoother paper is best for pencil drawing and marker. however, you still want some tooth on the paper pencils so the pigment has something to grab onto and you can add layers. for marker (things like copics) you want it as smooth as possible.
@AmyMichelleWiley4 жыл бұрын
I’m confused about this too. I guess you need medium tooth, more than marker paper but less than watercolor.

Awesome tutorial as always Kirsty and the result was phenomenal, you are an outstanding artist.
@TheArtGearGuide7 жыл бұрын
Oh I forgot to say how much I love the Strathmore Bristol Plate 500 Series it is absolutely amazing. I think it is the cotton in the paper that allows you to get loads of layers even though the surface is really smooth, I think the cotton absorbs the pigment allowing for the layers. I could be wrong but that's what it feels like to me when I use that paper. I just love Strathmore, their range of papers for artists is outstanding. Any way thank you so much for a wonderful tutorial and sorry for rambling on lol.
@pinkspirit69867 жыл бұрын
Thank you for mentioning the paper! I never know if I should use textured or smooth

Great points, and one thing I agree with in particular is never use yellow if you're drawing blonde hair. If you combine it with black for the other hair strands it looks horrible and totally unnatural. You should use a range of browns from light to dark depending on the reference photo
