Kishi Bashi - Evalyn, Summer Has Arrived | Audiotree Live

Kishi Bashi is a classically trained violinist. He crafts mystical sounds with his musical partner Tall Tall Trees. Each song is built from the ground up using loops of K’s percussive beatboxing, soaring violin textures and ethereal voice. Tall Tall Trees showcases his versatility on banjo by beating the drumlike body while maintaining his harmonious loops. Together they perform and release the soundscape onto unexpecting audience members; taking liberties within the structure to put on a lively and fervent show. Kishi Bashi’s new record “Lighght” is an indie sensation; it balances pop with mythical sounding art-rock for a colorful and expansive ride.

I think this song is my favorite of the session, it's simply amazing. I don't think that anyone is playing music near the level of Kishi Bashi and Tall Tall Trees, they're so unique, but their songs are always still very listenable.

Do they speed up the video near the end? It seems like the banjo guy couldn't possibly move his head that fast. This song is awesome.

Hi Hannah. We would never tamper with the speed of a video clip, and that is the actual speed of the musicians' movements. The reason why it might appear as if we have is due to the cameras filming with a high shutter speed. This effect creates crisp images, and negates motion blur. There are pros and cons to this type of filming, and we try our best to dial it in just right for each band.
