Vincent Oostelbos Rebecca Shortman It affects me too. I'd argue that it's because the empty hat at the end, the rabbit like creatures, it all implies a magic trick; a resurrection. It affects me because the artist may be depicting a devastating and relentless optimism. The implication that, for these creatures, death is not the end. Their love affair will continue forever. I have a passing interest in symbolism, advertising, visual metaphors, the psychology that makes movies effective, so that's how I came to this conclusion. Or I'm reading too much into things. but besides the visuals, it's a damn good song anyway.
@fandore129 жыл бұрын
the take away i come out with its is similar to the idea of the spirit, one soul looked out and never gave to much care to the other who it thought was nothing but worthless, but in the time where the one spirit needed help the most, the other took heed, sacrificing itself to danger in order to protect whit it cared about the most. coming to terms with this and just exactly what happened, the little spirit realizes just exactly what real love is, only now its too late. its touching and moving at the same time, beautifully done and also heart wrenching. keep making more music that speaks like this. its just awesome.

I swear this animatic and the music itself is so developed for it's time! However you interpret it is true to you though. Years ago, when I first saw the animation, I didn't have an idea of what it could mean but I think get it now. There's two rabbits in the begging, one alive and one dead. The first one bites on their ear (habit of stress) and this triggers a memory for them, but we see this block of puzzle pieces covering it first. The second time they go to bite their ear, we see this fog covering up their view because part of them still wants to suppress what they might remember. I recently found out that one can forget or develop dementia as a result of extreme trauma/PTSD and acts as subconscious self-protection for the person. This video breaks my heart but my god did they do a good job as representing this unknown symptom of trauma. ❤

If you like this, you might also like Where's My Love - SYML I've loved this song for a while, but I just heard Where's My Love at it reminded me of this, so this is my regular listen of this song. Thought others might appreciate some more music.

I had a long term lover that chose to break it off. To do it she had to internally vilify me. She exaggerated every fault I had and in a moment I was an enemy. I think it was a learned response from deeper issues but it was so strange on my end. A day after lovingly cuddling it was, "I am the antichrist to you." This song brings me back every time I listen, even if that wasn't the intended sentiment. Thanks for making art.

That is an amazing, emotional song. Thank you so much. P.S. do you people sometimes get a feeling that R&M write episodes around the songs, instead of picking a suitable ost for the episode? Almost all of the music they pick resonates so hard.

The story is wonderful and perfectly tied into the visuals, the music, the composition evokes a true sadness and pain, and the lyrics tell of that story and captures the feelings effortlessly. This song changed my life...

Such a beautiful song. I had heard of it and listened to it randomly, not too much but it was still in my playlist. But then I had watched Rick and Morty and when the episode came out I really felt and understood the lyrics. I'm not in the greatest place in life but songs like this just make me feel like It's all going to be ok. Such an amazing song.
