This was during a golden time in America's entertainment history. These movies are national treasures because we have lost so much over time. I don't think we have it in us to duplicate this majesty any longer.

So love this, Ann Blyth so handsome Howsrd Keele, and he had a wonderful voice. They say what goes round, comes round, perhaps all this rapper, foul language will go, and music i loved, i appreciated, will return. I'll be gone, but, perhaps, maybe,I'll be looking down and loving all over again xx

Direct lift from Borodin. 'Re-usable software'!

Another example of show business's deep and abiding respect for music that's out of copyright ;-)

@@barbaradace7952 This operetta resulted in a revival of interest in Borodin's music.

The writers of the show were very clear in attributing everything to Borodin. The show was a tribute to him, not a lift from him. Marvellous Russian composer from the 1860s, actually a doctor or chemist who composed in his spare time. Wrote 3 symphonies, an opera, some chamber music, etc.A genius ! 4:18

Yes the music was so old no copyright but lots of respect for Borodin. @@barbaradace7952

Is that actually Ann Blyth singing or somebody else? Thanks.

I think that is her singing - judging from the Student Prince and 7 Brides

@@DavidoffGustav She is singing. But "Seven Brides" was another small sized soprano, Jane Powell (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqjNemZpeJyMbNk) And here is Ann Blyth singing in another context: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnbUmK2AmNiDaLc

Truly her, a lovely voice, the great Carson film featured her so lovely version she sang to Caruso, Mario Lanza , beautiful song When you are in love, it's the loveliest night of the year. I never tire of watching and hearing this clip from the film. I believe she is in her late 90's, and still living a good life. ❤
