The Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT) has shared a statement from the Kiss Baking Company Limited following reports of contaminated bread.
The company said in a statement that a number of bread products were recalled on Saturday due to the possibility that a loaf of bread may have contaminated
In the media release Kiss Baking Company Limited stated that:
On Saturday 24th April, we recalled a number of bread products produced on Friday 23rd April due to a possibility that a piece of plastic may have contaminated a loaf of bread.”
“It is highly unlikely that this occurred but out of an abundance of caution we removed all bread that may have been affected by the piece of plastic in Trinidad.”
The company said this does not affect any bread in Tobago.
The products recalled were:
All large sliced sandwich loaves
Kiss Hot Dog bread
Coconut bun

The company said there is no possibility of glass being present in any of their products as their manufacturing processes do not use any equipment containing glass.
“Our customers can be confident that the bread available in the market and at present in their homes is perfectly safe. Nonetheless, should anyone feel any doubt or concern we will refund the full value of the loaf or loaves via the retailer from which the product was purchased.”
The company apologised for any inconvenience caused.
