The first concert I ever went to was Kiss at Varsity Stadium in Toronto. Sept. 6, 1976. Tickets cost $6, general admission.

@garcemac This was also my very first concert EVER! I'll never forget it as long as I live. It was labour day. The day before school. The Varsity Stadium garage doors were supposed to open at 6 pm. BUT, we were all banging on those big wooden garage doors before the show. It was about 3pm when we broke a hole in one of them, so they let us all in early! Blue Oyster Cult opened. KISS were huge bcuz Destroyer was their best lp.to date.The Toronto Sun headline the next day said: "KISS kids riot!"

I can't believe this exists!! I was 14 and this was my first concert w/o parents. Got there at 9am and crowd was wild until the mounties tore the entrance door appart as people were passing out from the crush. Once inside, between BOC and Kiss a food fight broke out that turned into a sod fight that went freaking insane. Announcer came on and said Kiss wouldn't play if it didn't stop. Still a top 3 concert for me and I've been to about 400 concerts since.

WOW! I can't believe someone actually filmed this concert. I was 16 and my brother told me about this group called KISS. He told me it was like nothing he had ever heard of or seen. We bought 2 tickets for $8.50 a piece (still have the stub). I brought my 35mm camera and took some decent photos with a telephoto lens. (They didn't search you back then so I just carried it in) I remember Artful Dodger opening, Blue Oyster Cult played next and then KISS. I became a KISS fan that day!!!

It was only played on 7/3/76 in Norfolk Virginia. With a attendance of 8,539. Opening band was "the scope". this was the 1st show with the Destroyer costumes & stage. Few pics exist showing the stage with the "tentacle tree" , broken building pieces over the amps, & white crystals on the stage floor on Aces side & in the middle. Sweet Pain was replaced by Cold Gin.

Awesome! This was my first concert. I was 13. Does anyone remember the other opening act, besides BOC? Called Artful Dodger. Good band.

@mdskewes I have the entire set soundboard recording on CD. I got it about fifteen years ago. It is incredible. Only glitch is Rock n Roll All Night blends right after Aces' smokin' solo into the second verse of Deuce. It's one of my bootleg jewels!! Ace calls someone an asshole right after the intro to Black Diamond, just before "Hit It!" Classic.

@Alpha7xxx Yes. They played Sweet Pain at the show in Norfolk, Virginia on July 3, 1976, which was the official concert debut of the Destroyer stage and Destroyer costumes. They quickly dropped it from the setlist and replaced it with Cold Gin.

@Alpha7xxx Not sure why it was dropped, doesn't say. They played Flaming Youth for awhile too at the beginning of the Destroyer tour, even before they switched to the Destroyer stage outfits. It was dropped as well, sometime in July. Not sure why either. There is a book called Kiss Alive Forever that is a very detailed account of their touring history. It's a must have, I find myself referring to it all the time. You should be able to find it online somewhere, just google Kiss Alive Forever.

I remember the opening act Artful Dodger ! They were British, and quite good too! Blue Oyster Cult was amazing !! There was ANOTHER opening act on this bill too.... A band called Rose Tattoo... who I think looked like Bikers ! Someone was Bald in that band if I recall. Of course, KISS was INCREDIBLE that night !
@kissed615 жыл бұрын
Artful Dodger were from Cleveland , and Rose Tattoo was not on the bill , just BOC and Artful Dodger

This is an incredible bootleg I would love to get my hands on this one may and they all 4 sound spectacular. This must have been right at the very beginning of the destroyer Toure like they were testing out the tour on Canada to see how they would like it before they rocked America. Regardless it's bad-ass, Love to get a copy of this on vinyl or CD.

I was at this concert with my brother. Only time I feared for my life. Only 1 door was originally opened and 20,000 people tried to cram through it. I was trapped in a crush of humanity. Couldn’t breathe. Show was disappointing compared to the show the previous April at Maple Leaf Gardens. As usual, the print media ripped the band the next day. I recall one newspaper had the headline; “Kiss - mindless noise and a steaming heap of machinery” - Ouch
