I love Kelli O'Hara, but Lilli/Kate needs to have grit in her voice and Kelli doesn't have that. (Also Rachel York and Brent Barrett will forever be the greatest Lilli and Fred.)

Her singing was incredible but she was miscast. She did not have the required bite. Will Chase was disappointing and they seemed more like brother and sister. Stephanie Styles was wonderful. as was Corbin Bleu. The rest of the production was mediocre.

I think altering a plot from the 1500s about a woman being literally beat into submission and marriage to make it less egregious and more of an enemies to lovers equal power dynamic is essential for this being palatable. Sorry that some morals and some consciousness of the messaging in art bothers you so much.

It should be obvious if you saw the show, compared to the original play. Also, writer and composer, Amanda Green, along with Kelli O'Hara, had many interviews at the time about how they had changed the production to enhance Kelli's role. @@NickyMay16
