Natty is main dancer - she appeared on Sixteen, the show that launched Twice, but she was too young then. But even at that age, she choreographed her own dance. Her character being homeless is likely a metaphor about her bouncing around from her JYP training days, through her solo debut a couple of years earlier, to finally land in S2 with Kiss of Life. Belle trained in SM, but she was first made herself known as a songwriter, most famously co-writing and co-composing Unforgiven. Yes, that Unforgiven. She's from Seattle. She is finally debuting as a singer herself, obviously as main vocal. Her character was living her mother's dream, training to be a ballerina, with her mother feeding her half a plate of salad for dinner - that's why she was hiding candy under the bed. It may refer to her actually having to diet to debut, or just in general show idol struggles with weight. Unable to deal with her mother's disappointment and likely even stricter control, she impulsively runs away from home. Julie is from the next top company: she was a Black Label trainee (a subsidiary of YG), originally from Hawai`i. Just like Natty is from JYP, famous for dancing, and Belle from SM famous for their vocal training, Julie just slid right in as a main rapper - no wonder you were reminded of CL, that's YG training right there. Her character is a bit on the wild, party side. She drinks too much, but has good friends to save her. Then again, her good friends might be a bit of a bad influence... Finally, we don't know too much about Haneul yet, but the maknae she seems to be an all-rounder. Some rumour that she came from HYBE, which would make it a perfect set, but I haven't seen anything substantial to confirm it. Her character is an influencer, posting makeup and dance tutorials. Belle was watching her video when mother busted her. She is introverted in real life, but her schoolmates recognise her and she gets more follows. \o/ The story continues in Bye My Neverland and Shhh MVs. S2 Entertainment scrapped a project before, Hot Issue, so some fans are a bit worried. But they brought in a creative director who seems to be doing things right - I just hope they hadn't pulled Loona and spent too much on the debut, because... who makes a debut album with 6 movie-quality MVs? Anyway: Lee Haein too wanted to be an idol, and participated in Produce 101 and Idol School. She seemed to have the votes to become the winner of Idol School, but she got eliminated instead; the manipulation of Idol School landed some people in jail. Now in S2, she decided the concept of the group is not right for her, and she'd prefer to guide Kiss of Life from behind, as a creative director. She has her own channel, "하이해인 HI HAE-IN", where she posts, among other things, a lot of background information on Kiss of Life and their MVs.

Been following these girls since I first heard Belle was writing for Purple Kiss, and Miyeon, and Le Sserafim. Outstanding recap, @AmadanMath, and solid research. Thank you especially for noting that we don't actually know if Haneul had a HYBE connection. But even more so, thank you for the background on Lee Haein, whom I did not know before. Her interviews about how she followed / found / formed the KIOF girls reveal a woman of singular focus and talent for bringing new life into K-pop. I did not know about Idol School screwing her over, but it does not surprise me, sadly. Let's hope S2 backs Haein in everything she's trying to do for these amazing artists, because they are off to a GREAT start!

13:00, yeah, Musa, Belle says that her outfit was badly torn in the fight scene and that both she and the actress playing her mom had actual bruises ... Belle went from "staff" (as she describes herself as a songwriter) to full-out actress before she even debuted as an idol these women are de.di.cated. (as most idols are)
