My great-great-grandfather served as a soldier in the Imperial Russian Army for 25 years. He walked for six months to the place of military service in Tashkent, and returned by train. By that time, the railway was built.He lived to a ripe old age, raised his grandson. His son, my great-grandfather, died in Africa. Fought in the expeditionary force for France. His grandson, my grandfather, fought against Japan on Lake Hasan. Was awarded the medal "For Bravery". He fought against Germany. In 1941 he was captured. He returned home in 1945. My great grandpa was a prisoner of war too, just from the other side. The fate was similar, he was gone 6 years longer though. When he came back from Siberia he had nothing. his wife had been told he was dead and had moved on, his parents had already finished the grief. from what I heard, he went and built himself a whole new life and died aged 97 as a very happy and lively man.

I've been watching all these and listening to Russian folk music on this other channel that does like collaborations with tons of musicians all in one music video. ROMĂNIA RESPECT!
@faintcry7 ай бұрын
It's unfortunate how the rich crave bloodshed and always sacrifice the common people to the meat grinder, and such tale will never end. War seperates us as enemies and unites us as sufferers. Greetings from the US. ❤

Not a native Russian speaker, so corret me if I'm wrong but I don't thik "бабы" really translates as "girls". It's either elder women, traditionally housewifes or women in general but expressed with some rural-ish manner. That gives this refrain heartwarming, almost commical tone, as being sung by some joyous countryboy, whose homecomming is clearly a festive event in some godforsaken village that he'd left before being drafted.

You are right, this is a simple dialect of workers and peasants. But who is in the army? The sons of bankers, officials and capitalists are not eager to fight.
