Kiss is a band EVERY band should learn from, weather you be a black metal band in backwoods norway or a country band. You can learn what to do, like how to sell merch, brand recognition, how to put on a show, and how to last. You can also learn what not to do, like Dont be a prick, dont let your ego control you, and don't be gene Simmons.

Bro! Serious respect for taking this task on! I might not agree with every ranking, but pretty close. Thank you for giving Dynasty and The Elder the respect they deserve. So difficult to rank all the albums. Partly, because many of us are influenced by life experiences and memories from the time that these records were released. Like many fans and like I do with Zeppelin, AC/DC or Sabbath, I go thru phases where I listen to entire albums over and over. I could do many, but I gotta give a special appreciation to "Not For The Innocent" off Lick It Up...It's just a nasty, dark riff and the production of the reverse reverb is badass! Gave me hope for post make-up KISS. Thanks man!

Dynasty was only half of KISS. Ace and Peter weren't even on most of the album. The disco sound of I Was Made For Loving You almost killed their popularity with fans at the time. Elder I think was just a transition period for them being a 70s band to being an 80s band with new sound and eventually new members

I was an original member of the KISS army (1979), saw them in concert several times, and even went to their BS Farewell Tour...thinking they'd never tour again. Dude you worded everything so perfectly! I'm a huge KISS fan, but unlike you they weren't part of my childhood. I got into them about 6 months ago and they're definitely my favorite band of all time. I'm currently 20 so I may be a little younger than you, but yeah it's kinda weird telling people you got into KISS after you discovered death metal / heavier music lol. When I was an edgy teen I never cared to go back and listen to 70s and 80s bands but boy do I wish I got into KISS sooner. I listen to all kinds of music, I have over 1300 artists in my music library, so I listen to a lot of music, and I highly agree they're underrated. Imagine if all the KISS haters heard I Stole Your Love, Black Diamond, or 100,000 Years! I'm sure their opinion would change. And yeah, a bunch of super heavy and respected bands site KISS as an inspiration yet almost all metal heads hate KISS for some reason. People call KISS sellouts but I think they're the opposite. Thy started from nothing, roaches in the studio, had to borrow their managers suit, Genes story of coming here, so I think they have the right to do "sellout" shit. I'm not ashamed to buy KISS merchandise, if it's some cool shit, like their McFarlane action figures. Sorry for the rant I just love KISS and wish more people (especially younger people) appreciated them more !

I was 14 years old when Kiss: Alive! debuted. At that time, they enjoyed a modest radio success with "Rock and Roll All Nite." As a teen, I was captivated by Kiss's superhero persona. I proudly joined the KISS Army and owned the compilation of their first three albums. On the day of their release, I purchased both Destroyer and Rock and Roll Over. Ace Frehley was my favorite member, and his influence led me to pick up the guitar; I believe his solo album was the standout among the four released by the band. In 1977, aged 15, I attended both the first and third shows at the LA Forum. After Frehley departed, the band's dynamic changed significantly for me. Ultimately, my fascination with KISS was a youthful phase that faded as I gravitated towards the Ramones and the rising punk movement. I did not listen to anything beyond KISS Alive! 2, which was recorded at the LA Forum.

LICK IT UP (1983) And the SOLO ALBUMS from 1978: ACE FREHLEY 🛸 (not only the best of the four..clearly, but it's one of the finest hard rock albums of the late 70s!) PAUL STANLEY ⭐ GENE SIMMONS 🦇 PETER CRISS 😼 As for my baker's dozen ranking: Anything after 1983....forget it. I've never owned Animalize, ever, on any format. Yeah, that "Asylum" record is decent musically, but the band looks like Walt Disney threw up. "Crazy Nights" and "Shit in The Shade?" Hahahaha. What a joke! Glossy, stupid garbage. And "Revenge" is indeed so overrated! It's UNHOLY (great track) and then mostly crap. Save for Heart of Chrome and maybe Thou Shalt Not, the rest of it blows. I think the cooler, less 'drunken stupid mall chicks' look helped this LP as well. But make no mistake, it's UNHOLY and that's basically it. That's enough to say. Basically, KISS was KISS in the 1970s. That awesome, powerful, kick ass rock n roll band: Ace, Gene, Paul & Peter. And then into the early 80s. All of that is either awesome, ICONIC or very good. The rest of it just is not KISS. M ⚡

I remember when creatures came out, hadn’t bought a record since Love gun, I love it loud played on the radio, kiss finally had a drummer I thought, bought the album immediately. Everyone dismissed the record at the time, but I was like “wait a second, the whole album is good”. Should’ve trusted my own judgment then.. Kept the original copy with the original cover at least, but I stupidly did not see them on tour as I was only 12 and went with public opinion。

When I was growing up, I was at a record store and came across the Alive! album, which I purchased largely in part due to the album cover design of 3 Guys in makeup playing with guitars in 1975, and I’ve been a Hugh Fan of KISS ever since then. Through highs and lows, in my experience and opinion The Hottest Band in The World KISS!!! I’ve seen KISS live multiple times across the years. And I still think that KISS Is the Top Ranked Band. Your video was really great, to each their own.

As many KISS fans I hold the album from when I discovered them highly, which for me was Unmasked. Dynasty also got a lot of play on my record player in 1980/81. Fans my age became KISS fans mostly because they did a world tour in 1980 and played a lot more places than they had before. They had a big radio hit with I Was Made that was played e v e r y w h e r e at the time so many people unknown to KISS thought they were a disco band. That quickly changed after The Elder and Creatures of The Night.

COS is great!!! The songwriting is super strong throughout. From what I've read, both Gene and Paul were fully committed to the project until near the end of the project. Paul did have some reservations about the new "grungy" direction, but I believe I heard Toby Wright say that Paul was very professional and committed through the whole recording process. I honestly don't think there's a weak track in the bunch. To be fair, it did take awhile for all the tracks to come into their own. But I don't think there's any filler at all. I'm not particularly biased either, because, while I LIKE Kiss and I like grunge, I'm not heavily invested in either.

To me their worst and not one memorable song on it. So boring and not like kiss before or after

I'm at 9 minutes in, and I have a feeling I have the same #1 in mind. I'll edit when I finish watching. OK, not to spoil anything, but I thought you were going to pick the album around 34:37 as your number one. That would have been my choice.

The first 3 albums would rate higher if they sounded good. I love alot of the songs on the first 3 albums and wish they would have re-recorded them. Been a Kiss fan since 76. No way is the Elder even in the top 10.If you lived though the 70's with Kiss your list would be much different...Your just a kid who doesn't know any better....lol...1-ROCK N ROLL OVER, 2- Detroyer, 3-Creatures of the night.

My Top albums; 1. Rock & Roll Over 2. Destroyer 3. Creatures of the Night 4. Dressed to Kill I will count Alive! in my top albums. Where its ranked probably just below Rock & Roll Over, but it's a raw Live recorded album that kicks above its grade

There were drum tracks on hot in the shade because Eric Carr was dying of cancer and couldn't play like he used to...WTF?!?!

Unfortunately, you are right about Mark St John, I thought it was strange & also A little sad that he could not play the same riff twice. But when he recovered, he played for Peter Criss & Jeff Scott Soto so he might of remedy that.

Loving the content brother! How do you use the music video clips for your video? Just wondering as I want to make my own documentary!
@ScoopedMids3 жыл бұрын
I keep them in relatively short clips, and I often use pictures slowly zooming in or out to illustrate my points and they also obscure the video a bit. This helps the video not get claimed for copyright.
