Interesting as always! Love seeing this thing come together. I didn't know I could understand this stuff until I came across this. Love it

I like the kickstarter. Nice. I see that type of power supply a lot where I work. Can you say nuclear? Just to be clear I'm talking about the pass transistor power supply.

I support the channel , but i dont think im alone when i think i want to see a custom psu build for a specific case by the man himself. Aka variable lab psu or high power psu for a specific purpose. Would love to see you design it.

Thank you! I'll be doing many designs on this and hope to put a bunch of them on boards fro anyone to get.

👍Perfect explanation! Question: I see that you use a 12V zener for derivation of the power supply to the PFC controller. But according to the datasheet of the PFC controller minimum VCC is around 11.8VThe BZV55B12 minimum zener voltage is 11.76

For those wondering why the top diode is necessary, it's because of the low surge current of SiC diodes because you can initially charge the capacitor trough the inductor but that initial current surge could be more than the switching diode can handle. It is explained in the document. Looking forward to the future videos about the mentioned topics.

Thanks so much! I plan to do a video where I will go step by step 'quickly' to explain the full design and trade-offs. I'll be sure to cover this - thank you!

very cool video. I love the math. keep it coming. I'm working on being a local reseller for Kaiweets. there's nowhere around here to buy a dmm unless you want a fluke.

it is looking good! but are you going to run it in a simulation software like microcap be nice to see it's behaviour. be nice to push the voltage up a bit higher 500V for tube amps. what I don't understand how you control the different voltages out like a transformer,..would that be through a buck converter? but do you get away with only one b+/- V or would you need multiple for different voltages.

Thanks for your question! Here's the next part where the isolated outputs come into play. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJLIdaSVhqp8pJo For a tube amp, I'd use a flyback converter following this PFC.

Power noob here, wondering if there is something that can be built with the gan fets as an add on for car alternators? My 80 squirrel power car going to need a boost if I want to listen to music have the ac on and run the plasma generator at the same time. 🤪
