The day he seems to be describing is Þrettándinn, but its not quite like that, the girl seems to have been mixing Jónsmessunótt with Þrettándinn and created like this super day..... On Þrettándinn which is the 13th day after christmas the elves not goblins move to a new home. If you don't speak to them at all (you need to be on the intersection/crossroads of 4 holy places.) and they will offer you all sorts of gold and jewels if only you move out of the way. If you don't speak and don't move they'll have to leave the stuff they offered you behind when the sun rises. If you do speak you will get trapped in their home forever. We don't have goblins but we have dwarfs and all sorts of ghosts. Jónsmessunótt is early summer/spring where you go outside naked in the dawn (mostly girls) to bathe in the dew.
