I've always wondered why Q receivers have polymer instead of aluminum as a material to put around the grip. It's a complex thing to machine and not structurally important, but only now did I realize that it might have a slight advantage in reducing recoil transferring to the web of the hand, and allow for a higher degree of grip angles and positions for restricted states.

I have a pair of 700;s one in 223 the other in 308, they currently shoot with factory match ammo, 308- 1/4 moa at 200 yards, and the 223 1/4 m0a at 100 yards, that's 5 shot one hole groups. Will your stock make it better? Both rifles have grey Kevlar stocks and are parkerized with heavy barrels. can your modifications improve on these groups?

That’s nice, but I just can’t see spending $1200 on a chassis. I suppose it makes a bit of sense if you have a 700 in the safe already. Less so if you don’t. Especially when you can get an absolutely excellent rifle like the Tikka T3X Tac A1 for $1700. It folds and has features and product quality that are undeniably superior to the 700s produced in the past 10 years or so.
@KitBadger4 жыл бұрын
In fairness Scotty, everyone in the world makes a better 700 than Remington... :)

Wow,that was a good video. I have to say, I can tell you guys started making that video early in the morning and you were not done until late in the afternoon. That is an all day event, thank you for making that video. And then, there is the editing work would probably takes just as much time as shooting the entire video. Thank you again Ivan. I have never even looked at a Remington 700. I did not know that that rifle existed, I will have to check one out. Barrel interference with a bipod? I did not even know that there was such an issue. Does that have to do with the Resonance of the barrel? Is it better to fire without a bipod than with a bipod? I assume it has to do with the way the barrel flexes as the round leaves the breach?
@KitBadger5 жыл бұрын
No problem man, thanks for watching. As to the barrel, they whip when the fire. It is really fast and not usually that much. But if you have a stock that isn't free floated, you can press on the barrel when you load the bipod, this puts pressure on the barrel and will move your impact away from your actual zero.

Pretty much everything about the buying of the gun even the price had my jaw on the floor. In Australia it takes weeks even months for a " permit to Aquire" to come back from the government when you apply ( yes apply, its not a given that you can have the weapon you want but most times its no worries) and then when you go to pick up the rifle from the shop 5weeks after you paid for it you have to sign some stuff and when you leave it has to be in a case or kinda hidden away so it doesnt look like a gun to the public or you could get charged with brandishing a weapon in public. It may make sense for a lot of people (don’t know who) however that’s the same price as one of my Aero Precision AR10 builds. Except it’s minus an actual rifle. I just can’t see it. My rifles also shoot near 1 MOA with 175 SMKs. My bolt guns do better but they are magnums. I could see an extreme long range application for sure, however a 6.5 will not outrun a .300 RUM. It makes more sense to me to make a long action rather than a short. Short action cartridges can be built from the ground up in a semi auto AR platform. $1200 will get you there. Maybe I’m missing it, but I’d just take my money and build another gun.
