V For Vendetta My uncle owns a fireworks store and orders them all from China , he goes to China every five years or so ! Point being they send different things over with the fireworks including things like this ! There's not a single named brand in there , seriously this is the size of a child's backpack! I can't say I know the exact price of this one but it's definitely under $100 dollars! I've seen ones that are sold for $250 and that's with a mark up , also the quality was much better than what was in this one ! Had more items and was 2 weeks of food or week for 2 people! Now understandable not everyone can get these deals, but still for $250 you could get one that's way more and much better quality! I know things from China are cheap but they also have different qualities, I'm pretty sure the ones for $250 my uncle gets if they fall in line with the fireworks it's a little under 1/3 the price then markup ! How much even at Walmart would this cost?

Despite the deficiencies (you could fix those yourself), this was still a very well thought out bag! The organization was very efficient, with a ton of room for adding your own things to it! If people would remember; you can carry that inner sleeve separately and the main bag can can be carried by the second person, with even more stuff! Absolutely excellent review! I don't believe any body else does it better than you Eric! It would be nice if one day, you could take some of the kits in the back yard and let us see how big that "tent" would be when it is set up properly; or see some of the water purification systems put together and see what kind of time it takes to purify some water. Thanks so much for spending the money and taking the time to make the videos and showing them to us!

Hey Eric - Really outstanding video so thanks. When I initially saw the length of the video I thought, Oh hell no; however, your very thorough unbundling of the kit’s products and the accompanying commentary was well worth my time. Your analysis at the end was spot on in terms of the intended market. For the non-prepper person a bug-out kit is a essentially insurance you hope never to use. The careful organization of this kit and the accompanying instructions make this kit viable for such a person in a stressful situation. As a retired military veteran I certainly appreciate the value of preparedness and I do have a very carefully personal curated kit that I update and review every new year. For me, after your review, the reason I WILL actually buy this kit is as gifts my adult daughters as a peace of mind for them (and me frankly). I know how busy (and complacent) individuals can be so - with some appropriate additions and substitutions by me - this is an expensive but well-organized kit for them as casual urban user. They could definitely replace those goggles with sunglasses and add a couple more Datrex bars, a couple of water bladders, water purification tabs, a compass, and I'm always a fan of a fishing kit. I feel like fishing kits arent just good for food but they are also something to keep you occupied and keep up morale.

ok first of all, this was so worth the wait, really clear concise breakdown as always. your contextual opinion segment really added to the video imo. one thing i appreciate about your vids is that you have a reasonable take, whereas others feel the need to either be hyper critical or overly gushy, its nice to see a level headed take and that really came in when discussing the price, for some its too much, for others its fine. the actual kitbashing whilst always fun, really was cool in this one, the additions really took this bag to a premium level, also completely agree about how name brand tools would have gone a long way to justifying price. and final comment, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A BREAKDOWN OF YOUR BUG OUT BAG. thank you for continuing to provide fun, entertaining, informative and inspirational content.

Good video. The best part about the kit is the backpack can be used to fill with water to transport large amount of water while the content can still be carried as a backpack. I would definitely have added a water proof tarp. I also would have added a large rolled up wool bkanket on the outside for bedding and warmth. At the end of the day a survival kit should reflect a backpack full of camping gear with a medical kit and hunting/fishing. Tent/shelter, sleeping system, campfire, cookware, water supply, and food.

Good review, thanks! If I may add: Swap or supplement the immoidium for medical charcoal like Norit. It will also help if you accidentally drink or eat something toxic which isn't all that improbable in a survival scenario. I'm not sure if I missed it, but you might add a small bottle of high percentage alcohol to disinfect. If all goes well and you add a drinkable alcohol you can use it as a moral boost ;) I'm starting my own bug in and get home 'kits'. It surprises me nobody adds medical activated charcoal to their kit.
@badxradxandy

@@badxradxandy True, you can buy activated charcoal from an aquarium shop or even make it yourself. The medical one is of a certain quality that suited for the occasion. Pretty cool set up. I didn't read through all the comments, so maybe it was already said, but I would add some food to the inside of that water bottle. Some oatmeal packets, maybe a bag of rice and bouillon cubes, and a couple plastic spoons. I do think that if you strap some more hot gear to the outside of the main pack, the inner pack with shoulder straps is for the second person to carry, and what's strapped to the outside of the main pack, can then be thrown inside it, since this is a TWO man kit. Keep up the great work.

Decent Emergency Kit. Price is a bit excessive for quality of items included. It could be, IMHO, less expensive if the Co. ventured away from branding EVERYTHING!!! It costs a lot to "Tool-Up" the manufacturing Facility/ Equipment to do so. For the price they are charging, if they didn't brand EVERYTHING, they could have put quality gear in the Kit as you concluded. I do like what you did to make it better. Curious though... How much does it weigh now? Thanks for another awesome Survival Kit walk-through. Looking forward to the next one! Cheers 🍻

They could make the head gear and tent 2 sided in color. Bright orange on one side for both. So you can choose if you want to be rescued, or stay covert. Mylar on inside= warmth. Orange on inside= 😎 cool. Add 4-5 heavy duty contractor garbage bags to store gear outside of tent. They can be made into emergency pull over rain jackets( I like them if I’m in a situation where I might rip my good rain gear). You can get them in bright, dark , or camo colors now.

I know this was a year ago but I'm going to try this anyway. You were talking about the ferrocerium Rod not being able to strike it with the knife because it didn't have a right angle on the back but you also said that the knife had serrations and you can strike a ferrocerium rod on the serrated part of the knife also you could probably use the shears that's in there and honestly as long as it's sharp item such as even a piece of glass will strike a ferrocerium rod it doesn't have to be a carbon steel. I see a lot of people saying oh you have to have a carbon steel to strike the Ferro rod. Anyway you get the point I'm rattling on now. That's okay for people with money.
