While Christmas and Fall are favorites to a lot of us I can’t wait to see what you do for summer. I think it might help in long run of what will and won’t work for later on in other seasons. Above all I’m so happy you did post this video! I love watching how your figuring everything out. So looking forward to seeing what you come up with in your beautiful new home. Crystal, your long bread bowls must be still packed in a box. I bet they will look great in the kitchen. You probably will re-do your shelves once all the decor is unpacked. You do such a great job, decorating can be tiring so take your time and enjoy the journey. Btw, I love the muffin idea for the kids. You are an awesome mom. Your kids will remember all those thoughtful things you do for them. God bless you and your family.

On the top shelf I’m struggling with the space between the items and the ceiling. I would use a large rattan tray round or rectangle , as a backdrop that would pull the rattan from the island stools and fill that space and add some texture and visual interest up top! ❤ before you said it was your favorite, I thought yep, second shelf is my favorite! 🤣

I think it looks good on the shelves. Maybe a piece of greenery laying between clothe and jug vase laying down and or draping over a little.

A decorating tip-when putting items on a shelf, the largest piece should always be on the left. We are taught to read from left to right and instinctively, we focus on items on the left first.

Great tip! When I have multiple shelves like Crystal has in her kitchen, I will put the next shelf to the right for balance.

I think decor with more color would pop in those glass cabinets. The whites and clear just kinda blends in unless that’s what you was going for. I am liking the black!

The kitchen space is so lovely. You are so right to give yourself time to live with it for a while before you decide what to put where. I feel your pain in trying to decide what to put on open shelving - that's why I'm not a fan. I would drive myself nuts trying to find the perfect style. Lol One item you might like to check out is from Walmart's threshold collect Thyme and Table. They have a dinnerware set that is so subtle but makes a great statement. White background, tiny black dots, and a very small gold rim. Check it out online because they have more selection of different pieces. Whatever you decide, I know it will be lovely because you have such a great eye for decorating. In love with the new home - it's just breathtaking!

Your kitchen is gorgeous! You have to find your chicken wire shelf you had in your old house. Mine has moved from my kitchen to my console table. I love that piece, you have so many places you could use it in. The shelves look so nice, take your time. I decorated too quickly when we moved into our home, I just wanted it done. I am now changing things, slowly this time! Have fun with it, don't rush. ❤️

I love the more minimalist look to the countertops; I think because I limited counter space. I hope one day we install shelves on one wall to hold items that are on my counter. Your kitchen is beautiful.

Hi Crystal. I like that you decorated the three open shelves. Can’t wait until for you to do your 4th of July decor which is my most favorite holiday to decorate my home. Usually keep it up until Labor Day. I know the kids will be out of school for the summer so you will be busy busy with there activities. But we miss your 2 videos a week but we understand. moving to a larger space or the opposite takes time and patience to decorate. what worked in one home may not work in another. I do love the wooden pieces and the black accents.

I love this! But I have to say, I was kinda hoping to see your Fiesta dishes displayed. The neutral palette is growing on me, but I do still gravitate toward color. But, you do you! And you always have the Fiesta dishes if u need a “pop”. Girl, I will love however you decorate. You are always fun to watch!❤️❤️

I love the black pitcher on the top shelf. I like the zig zag effect. Put something black on the middle left and the bottom right. It will balance things out.

Hi Crystal, was thinking you said this was your coffee bar area, so maybe add items related to coffee to decorate with…? Perhaps a picture at top of shelf is what you need since you weren’t sure if you liked the finish look.. I always like to see what ppl actually use and display them than what they don’t use and display just for decoration purposes. I hope this helps. Your house is beautiful and your kitchen is my favorite. 😊 It’s a struggle I know…😊

Hi Crystal! I think the decor looks great! I know you talked about a wreath on the hood and I think that would look nice. Maybe one nice floral arrangement or bread bowl on the island. But I agree… the kitchen is so beautiful …you don’t need much to highlight it. I had the same issue when I bought the Pottery Barn hutch. It had me feeling creatively “off” until I got used to decorating it. We all love to watch whatever you do! Friend, it will be a process but that’s fine by me!❤

Crystal I think the top shelf needs some height behind the items for layering. The scale seems off because the arch is so high. I think that’s what’s tripping up your visual sense. A larger round cutting board maybe?? That’s was my first thought. Or a bigger cook book? Anyways I know you’ll figure it out!❤️

Yes, balance is the key, picture frames books or risers help raise things up. Cutting boards, plants . We all know it is going to take time! 😉

P.S. I also think maybe spreading some things out on the counter tops but adding groupings of things like you had at your other house! Little lamp in the corner. Definitely the chicken wire shelf and some pops of spring like a big flower arrangement with some pretty steams. Everything is so much bigger there so using bigger items might help as well

Crystal, I love how it turned out! When we moved into our new home, it took at least a year to be fully decorated as it is hard to find exactly what you might want. I love your decorating style. I love your new kitchen Crystal and I love the direction you are going in with the shelves. Maybe on the top something to add a different texture, like a tobacco basket leaning up against the wall behind your cloche and pitcher?? I’m as crazy for tobacco baskets as you are for cutting boards lol. And Crystal, I’m really afraid to ask this, because I’m afraid of the answer. But here goes!!! Just a suggestion....since your refrigerator sticks out a bit and you can't build it in better, you can extend the white cabinet "wall" next to the fridge to camouflage the black side of the refrigerator. Counter depth refrigerators are great but too small for a big family.

Spring and summer decor is always more challenging for me because there just isn’t the abundance of options we have at fall or Christmastime. It would be a tricky time to get started decorating in a brand new home! But you’re making beautiful choices and it will be fun to watch you tweak it until you love it.

I love your decore, only thing I would add to the top shelf is a plant that drapes down and with the beautiful wood shelf color I would add some copper pieces, the copper would make it pop, but that’s just my decore style that I love, it’s whatever you love

It's always fun and a challenge to decorate a new space. Add more black to the shelves and when you're shopping get square items, to many round glazed things can become boring. Entertain with variety 😊

I totally can relate to the challenges of decorating a new home, especially one that is much different in style, scale and layout. We built a new home in late 2021 - an open concept ranch. We had a two story traditional home for over 20 years. It has been a learning curve and I am just now feeling like I'm getting some of the new spaces right. I'm still not a fan of my living room and kitchen work area, but I'm getting there. So my advice is just keep trying and editing and adding - it's only decor and eventually you will find your groove. In the meantime, it's already a beautiful house, you just need to find what makes it home for your family. Oh, and don't let any of the negative Nancy's or that horrible gossip site bring you down, they need some serious prayers. Your house is already wonderful and special even if you don't do one more thing!

It looks beautiful. I agree….decorate and get the spaces you want done and then just take your time and as you see new items or items elsewhere in your home…..you make it the way you like it. The important thing is to enjoy yourself. And remember, your husband, your children and family and friends will love coming to your home because of you and your welcoming manner…..not because you put certain items in certain places. That is for you.
