I keep my butter in an air tight container and flip it upside down ... acts like a butter dish so it’s easy to slice it

Hey!!! Love this series!!! Can you make one about cross contamination? Making meat freaks me out because I feel like I contaminate everything while I clean it

The best tip is to just live with it and just be generally, but not perfectly, clean and tidy. You'll live, and get stronger for it. When you eat outside, there's probably a tooonnnnneee of cross contamination. You haven't died.

Loved the video, but you use so much plastic😭 for any beginners: if you absolutely must use plastic bags use refrigerator bags instead of ziplocks, they use way less plastic, tho dont use it for liquid stuff, it has less plastic=it's thinner. Or better than using plastic bags use what you already have at home. You probably buy yogurt, icecream or some other stuff that comes with plastic containers, after finishing your product, use them for storage of your other foods. Plus plastic containers are great for freezer. Same thing in glass pickle etc. jars/containers too, you can reuse them, but dont put them in freezer or they may break. Just wash them like your other cutlery or containers. For opened pakaged items, instead of using a ziplock bag and trashing it after, use garbage bin bags(not scented) or plastic store bags(not the paper ones). So you can reuse them as garbage bags and not waste extra plastic. SAVE THE WORLD FOLKS

yes. Also if you're going to buy new containers, might as well buy glass containers. There are many zero waste alternatives you can search for.

@@melindagoh739 Considering how often the plastic products need to purchased, zero waste alternatives are cheaper in the long run. And many of these can be DIYed. You can find many youtube videos for that

Good tips. You can also portion your meat by using chopsticks to “cut” them into smaller flat portions in the bags before freezing. I find that reusing paper bags to store leafy veggies keeps them fresh for longer too.

Good tips but why so much single-use waste though? I haven't used cling film / wrap or single use zip-lock bags in over 15 years - who needs them when you have containers and plenty of bags with seals that products have come in (e.g. frozen berries)? Paper towels are the same, washable cloths are also just as hygienic & much better for the environment. I'm so glad you mentioned the use of jars though! Such a great tip for cheap & reusable storage :-)

Absolutely appreciate these tips, will definitely adapt a few. Yet, putting stuff in an air-tight container and additionally put the container inside a zip-loc bag is a little overdone, imo.

can you re-use the ziplock bags after defrosting the meat? I always think that i would need to use detergent to clean any organic materials will be left by the defrosted meat, but this will also degrade the plastic. Any thoughts on this?

Do you reuse zip lock bags for different batches of meat or do you just throw away after 1 use?
@margarethamadoures3043
@margarethamadoures3043 3 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't reuse them. Normally, you are not able to clean them well enough. Instead consider saving plastic in other places. Leftover glasa jars from jams and sauces are easier to clean and don't react with food.
@lieweeling
@lieweeling 3 жыл бұрын
No, can't reuse for other meats. I usually reuse it for throwing bones, food scraps etc, it keeps the smell in when I don't clear the trash on that day.
