I’ve had issues with the splash guard tricking the homeowner into thinking the drain is clogged. Just an idea. I’m a handyman and have fixed lots of mistakes licensed plumbers have made so we aren’t all bad lol

first thing i do before snaking a kitchen drain in a rental is turn the water heater way up and run supplemental very hot water with a 3/4 inch cutter. i might have put a cleanout in pitched up for next time. i always tell a renter to run cold water while using a disposal then run water for 15 seconds after they turn it off. always cold never hot

Same problem with my sink on the last Saturday of September this year. My mom would put stuff down the garbage disposal and she noticed the drain was clogged. So everytime we run the disposal, water starts backing up. It's working okay now since a professional came to fix it that same day.

I like the video because it's well done, clear visuals and good sound quality. Wow is that main drain pipe ever clogged and hard to snake. Very bizarre. Must be packed. Could be layers of paper. Tell the people to never put paper or leafy vegetables etc Into their disposal. They think that anything goes, but many things should never be tossed into sink disposals. I always give people simple tips to avoid problems. This wasn't the handy man's fault. The way he connected the pipes to the drain was crappy but not the cause of the clog. You have to help people who are making an effort to straighten out their lives. It's easy to criticize when your life has always gone smoothly. Some of us get a series of bad breaks and need help. On a completely other track, never let a dog stick his head out the car window. Dust blasts into their ears, eyes, mouth and nose, which can damage eyes and ears and cause lung problems, over time. It's the same with humans. You wouldn't drive with your head out the window. Imagine if a piece of bird poop or something tossed out of the car in front of you hits you in the eye. It's not worth taking the chance. We think it's cute to see the dogs ears flapping in the wind, but it's so dangerous.

probably should have installed a wye with an end cleanout instead of a 45 since you didnt put on a union p trap, that way you can snake it easily. but you have to use what you got in the truck i guess.

Question for you, why do you solvent weld everything under a sink? Makes it harder to snake at a later date. You’ll need to snake drains every so often on a newer drain. You’ll especially need to re snake an olde drain you where called out to snake in the first place. Wouldn’t compression fittings be more appropriate? Is it code requirements or personal preference? A typical "PAY NOW OR PAY LATER" hookup. Instead of hiring a plumber to install garbage disposal they leave a nimrod who thinks he can do it. Thought they were saving some money instead of hiring the high cost plumber(Steve) so now they ended up with two (2) bills for the installation. cool beans mama.
