As another commenter said, it's not stainless steel, it's aluminum, and aluminum likes to change colors to that yukky gray. Another obvious use for this is making sandwich spreads from cooked ham, chicken, or fish. Also grinding cooked or canned beans for veggie burgers. Don't forget those caring for the elderly or ill or those with dysphagia who need a soft diet. This attachment is a godsend when nutrition is crucial. The fine grinding plate can also make baby/toddler/old dog food. It won't puree, but it will grind it up fine!

Great and informative video. We have a complete commercial butcher shop setup but it is about 30 miles from me and I was looking to get a grinder for small stuff here at the house for something like brisket trimmings to hamburger or rib trimmings to sausage. Our grinder is an old Hobart that came out of a grocery store and is about 100# and bolted to the table so it is not very mobile. Being we already have the kitchenaid this should solve the issue! Also the blackening on your grinder is oxidation from the dish washer. It should clean up though. While the grinder looks like stainless it is actually burnished aluminum according to kitchenaids site. Try a lemon juice or vinegar mix and give it a scrub. Hope that helps! 👍👍

So that means that it’s not a stanless Grinder as u mentioned at the start?

According to internet aid it's made of Lead. I can't fathom. Why they would use lead and not make it from stainless and just charge a bit more.

Does it leak back into the mixer housing? I'm looking at buying one i saw a non KitchenAid attachment for the KitchenAid that leaked liquid into the housing causing problems later on

I have not had anything leak back into the housing. It seems like that would only be an issue if the unit get clogged really badly from trying to stuff too much in it at a time.

I've used mines for a while now, I've ground several pounds of meats... Not one drop of liquid has ever leaked into the mixer housing... That's the difference in the knockoff one's & The Original KitchenAid brand one🤷🏾♂️
