Thanks. Great info and agree. A note about the Soul 12m (which I love riding) Was delivered to me and was either not tuned or rigged poorly from the factory. I tested against another Soul 12m and the difference was very noticeable. My new kite kept having the wingtips fold in and would completely collapse at times. Dragged me across the beach (injury). The other one was as stable as a stratus cloud. I returned the kite to my local shop and they would not replace. Said FS would doing nothing until it was sent to them in Germany (i'm in Australia) :-(. The kite shop owner flew the kite and agreed that there was a problem, he contacted FS and they said the would send me a "barely used 12m" to replace mine, or I would have to wait many weeks for them to receive mine, repair and return. Heads up for those looking to get this kite. Saying that when this kite works as advertised I can go from twin tip to foil to twin tip as the wind changes from 10kts to 18kts to 10 knots. Cheers

Yes, as stated in the video this one had to be tuned as well.

I'd say that the shop is kind of not doing their job. They should for sure have the knowledge to tune the kite themselves. There are a lot of tuning-options on the Soul which almost guarantee you to get it into great flying shape if there is a problem. Of course this knowledge isn't expected in an end customer... but I'd say that it is mandatory from a reseller. Get in contact with the Flysurfer importer in Australia directly and ask him to get it tuned for you. And also ask him to educate his resellers about the system they sell. If the reseller won't get in touch with the importer, or won't give you the contact-info to him, you can e-mail FS directly at info@flysurfer.com. They usually are quite fast at responding. If everything else fails, send me a message and I'll see what I can do.

Nice Video. I like that you properly explain your choices. However, my experience with the FS Soul, was great. I got an 18m2 for low wind days and it came properly tuned right out the box and the bridles were all setup for flight.

nice comparison.. I am a bit biased to FS coz I have the guy who imports them as a friend.. and straight out of the bag we didn't even checked the setting we did aditional knot on back lines where we hooked the bar.. He said that setting is like that because the power lines extend to final lenght after a few hours and you just go to normal knot then...

Great video. the stearing lines of the flysurfer shorten over time. after a few hours of flying they have the perfect lenght. and this lenght is kept for ever (almost). cheers

You are wrong about the bag on the Hyperlink V1. It comes with a bag as standard.

Flysurfer Soul wins hands down. For quality and how it flies. 15m2 in 8kts, twin tip and I am heavy (95kgs). Ready to go out of the bag. No tuning needed

How about comparing the soul with the chronos which is more the same type of kite. I bought a flysurfer sonic2 foil last year, but after opening it up...ohh my gosh what a spaghetti mess, there was no one in the local schools to teach me, so it sat then I sold it.
@_bluespider5470
@_bluespider5470 5 жыл бұрын
Flysurfer sonic is definitely not the kite to go when you aren't already into foil kiting, it can be a mess with the ultra light bridal system, and it's way to aggressive for somebody who doesn't know how to fly foil kites. Also, if you want to get the most speed and upwind performance, you'll have to tweek it a lil bit, depending on the conditions of your local spot. If you can, I'll recommend you the soul, but kites like the flysurfer speed 5 or even 4 are really good, and way less expensive. Beware it'll be harder to water relaunch and has a much more typical foil style of flying whereas the soul is very easy when switching from lei to foil kites. Have a nice ride, just ask if you need advices 🤙🏽

come on ok kiteboarding let's have episode 2, I don't care about setup and takedown just want to know how they compare when flying how it loops, how it handles gusts, let's talk tacos.

Lol. These are long episodes, too much for a single. How about whoever subscribes to my email list @ okkiteboarder.com, I'll email episode 2 at the end of this week? Outside of that, I'll release it in 2 weeks.??? New content in freezing conditions is not real pleasant to produce Eric Taylor!

eric taylor eric ure stuck in the 1990 . Foil kites rarely taco , the smaller sizes loop just fine and handle gust just fine . Foil kites are not the best freestyle kites i admit but they're Good at airstyle which most kiters mainly do and ease of use . I knw some folks dont feel like thye kited unless they had to pump a kite up before a session but trust me u can overcome this with some foil kite therapy😂😂.

The high end ozone cast are far in advance for build structure and strength over Flysurfer. Chrono3 and R1v3 are untouchable. I've had the full line up of Flysurfer and if pushed hard they just BREAK with a heavy rider. Spent thousands £ having them repaired and weeks off the water. Never had one repair with an Ozone foil after 400+ hours on all 3 releases.

@@cortex4ever ooft late reply, but it was when the Speed3DLX were around and also the LOTUS models which were the ones that broke the most. I know the Souls are massively better, but still not a patch on my old Chrono V3's and now even better V4's.

Great review. Look forward to the second half. Although I would like to add that when I bought my Hyperlink last October (2018), it had a bag. This must be a US issue, as I'm in Australia. There are three 9m Hyperlinks in our crew, and one other is soon to take delivery of a Soul. Comparisons will be interesting. As my first foil kite the Hyperlink scared me to death initially because of all the horror stories. These are unfounded now, kind of, given the advancement in the technology and design of all foil kites. Just don't use then in very light and variable conditions - you will be swimming, thinking it'll get me home even if its is 0-8kts. Now, after 3-4 serious swims following light-wind ditches - ;) - and about 5 big untangling sessions, I love it. The bridal shakes out, and the untangling sessions I did have took out all the fear and made me understand how the bridal works. Bonus. Here in Perth, I use it for foiling in 11 to 17kts. It makes my day. I was 700m offshore last night - only me on the foil and a mate on a 12m LEI twin tipping. We had our local spot in Cottesloe to ourselves, and I even managed to cruise along a lumpy swell that came over the spot's reef. A 12m 'Link is on the cards later in the year, but I'm keeping my Cab Drifter surf LEIs for foiling 16kts and above and hitting waves, although a small Neil Pryde Glide foil for those is also on the shopping list. Thanks.

i own and do not recommend hyperlink v2. pulleys and zipper are low quality and break after about a year of occasional use. they did not honor warranty for pulleys for me saying it was “misused” and had sand in it. i think they are well aware their pulleys and zippers are low wuality and they fail. just fyi kiters.

For a minute i though u were gonna say hyperlink is a better kite then i would have to said this review is 100% rigged . LOL . ozone kites are not on the same level as flysurfers they are geared towards foil kite noobs thyre have a mushy springy feel along with certain characteristics that lei kites have like somewhat heavy bar pressure,, simple bridels and on and off power delivery . Flysurfers are way ahead of ozone when it comes to high performance foil kites . Their kites deliver a solid feel and smooth power delivery , excellent depower and superior lift and hangtime . However u need some good foil kite experience to make the best out of them .
